I got to the east end of the bridge and it was blocked by heavy construction equipment and some workers told me the bridge is closed. Obviously.

Platte River Connection

Bridge closed and barricaded

September, 2020 by Workman

As a ‘through rider’ I had to ride all the way from State Route 50 out SR 31, to find out that the trail to the bridge is closed and the bridge is barricaded. Don’t bother going. It has been closed from flooding since March 2019 and the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District does not seem to be in any hurry to open or repair the bridge. The detour would be to ride the 4 1/2-5 miles back to the SR 50 bridge at Louisville.

Rough but Nice Views

September, 2020 by twilightsleep

As of September 2020, signs still state that this trail is closed due to flooding, but the trail is completely dry.

Definitely not a trail for a road bike, but my hybrid bike handled it relatively well. A lot of ruts were repaired with very sharp white stones, though, so it was a rough ride and I never cycled above 10 mph.

At one point the trail is part of a levee above a cornfield. This levee was so thick with crushed stones that my tires kept sinking and I had to push my bike through this part. Finally, I gave up and turned back.

Lovely views complete with turtles, snakes, and frogs crossing the path. Trail needs some care, though.

Burt Street Trail

I've lived in Omaha for 30 years and never knew this route was here. I was able to connect it with side streets and ride from my house near Memorial park to the Bob Kerrey Bridge thus avoiding the major streets with more traffic.

Bellevue Loop Trail

This Trail closed last year following the floods in the spring. It might reopen next year if the levee improvements and trail get completed.

Keystone Trail

keystone trails

September, 2020 by arjuns2007

I always start my biking from democracy park (Keystone trails). This is 15 miles trails. I go there every next day. This trails is not bad for mountain bike but when you ride road bike some concrete slabs are unbalanced that’s why road bike has a problem. If they make it balance, it will help to ride smoothly. Thank you

Northen Trail Poorly Maintained

August, 2020 by 83bxyq2g6v

Road the section of this trail that starts north of NP Dodge Park and was disappointed. Too much of the "trail" is simply a paved area directly adjunct to the road, so you're biking with cars and motorcycles during a good portion of the trip. And when you're not on the road you're on an overgrown, somewhat dystopian-looking path adjacent to corn fields and farm driveways marked with "Trespassers will be Shot" signs. Not fun.

Cancelled Rooster Tail Ride

August, 2020 by arthurduvall

My brother and I had both registered for the 2020 Rooster Tail ride, and were disappointed, although understood, when it was announced that it was cancelled. We decided to go ahead and ride the trail anyway. I live about 150 miles away and was looking forward to the ride.
We decided to start at the trail head in Council Bluffs, and we had already had rooms reserved in Shenandoah. We started early (6:00 a.m.) due to the heat. It was an excellent ride, the trail was in great shape. Surprisingly, their was very little traffic on the trail. I had been on the trail as far as Malvern before. When we arrived in Shenandoah we discussed going on to the end of the trail and back. We decided against it , but I did go out on the trail far enough so that I would hit 50 miles, my longest one day ride to date.
We were delayed on Sunday morning for our return ride by some rain showers, but once on our way, the trail was still in good shape, but a little soft due to the rain. Once we hit Mineola we started to meet a lot of people on the trail. Once again when I got to the end, I went just a little farther to record my second 50 mile ride.
It was a great ride on a great trail and I will definitely do this again.

Huntington Park Trailway

It's a nice asphalt trail. Half of it runs through a nice quiet neighborhood and the other half runs through a quiet, shady park. It's one long, but gradual hill. The trail connects to the West Papio Trail.
