Enola Low Grade Trail

Update Jan 24th 2022

January, 2022 by trailkeeper

copy of post from Lanco Planning and user questions. :Congrats to Bart Township for receiving a grant to extend the Enola Low Grade Trail 9 miles to the Chester County border! This extension to the trail will go through Bart, Eden, and Sadsbury Townships. It will include 3 trailheads, ADA access, and fixes for 2 bridges. The grant was provided by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through their Recreation and Conservation grant program. What's the status of the Safe Harbor and Martic Forge trestles? Safe Harbor this spring Martic late summer. What's the current easternmost trailhead? What will be the distance from the Turkey Hill Trailhead to that eastern point when the trestles are opened?
East State St. In Quarryville. 29 miles total
I'd say there is a good chance the entire trail could be finished in 2024.

The only reason I didn’t give it a 5/5 is because expected it to be more through trees. It felt like I was walking through people’s back yards

I moved to Parkwood as a child in 1964 and these trails have really changed for the best! I still miss the old corn fields of old Byberry hospital but the trail brings back so many wonderful memories it's a blessing to reconnect!

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

very nice trail

December, 2021 by lowtoyonair

I hopped on this trail somewhere around the mid point and headed towards Lititz. Very nice maintained. I even enjoyed a few alternative routes around a park and a school. I was hoping it would go farther towards the pleasant downtown area in Lititz but feel that the streets are safe enough to travel to all of the shopping attractions in Lititz. I the returned back to the trail and followed it back all the way to Ephrata and was pleasantly surprised to see that that end of the trail leads to downtown. I even caught a glimpse of a small BMX style practice track that I was tempted to try. I also want to mention that there are bike rental options at either end of the trail that makes for a great option for non-owners.

Ben Cardin C&D Canal Recreational Trail

C & D Trail

November, 2021 by prhelt

This is really a 15 mile trail 30 miles round trip. It runs from Delaware City to Chesapeake City. The Ben Cardin is the short MD part and the Michael Castle is the DE part. If it was not for a sign you would not know you were going from one trail to the other at the state line. It is well paved and in very good shape. I few good hills where it had to take a detour for one reason or another, but not many. There is a short road (More Like a Parking lot) section when you go through a marina. That is the sharp turn on the map. There is another short road section in Delaware City but only because the signs say not to ride on the sidewalk which is really the trail at that point. No traffic at either. The canal is nice, but not a whole lot to see. Worth the trip. Only 4 stars as there was not much to see but the trail itself was great. If I lived near I would ride it a lot.

Schuylkill River Trail

Stellar trail ride in the Fall

November, 2021 by richardsj1

Rode from Valley Forge (Pawlings Rd Access) to end of the trail in Philadelphia and back for around 49 miles or so. It was a weekday morning and the conditions were ideal. The only challenges heading into Philadelphia are figuring out where to go around Manayunk (canal trail or through town) and then connecting to the paved trail at or past Lincoln (?). Easier coming back. Well worth the ride from York.

Discovered this park on my way back to Delaware from another hike. Nice local hike or bike (some hills). It’s nice for a local quick afternoon adventure.

Schuylkill River Trail

love it!

October, 2021 by rosejacquelynn

This is the first huge trail I've been able to find. It's great! I love how easy it is to walk. I usually start where the parking lot is on pawlings or on station and I walk towards oaks near mill road. I'm just starting out walking and it's great for a beginner.

D&L Trail

Great ride north from Glen Onoko, with a few caveats...

October, 2021 by jsshoemaker826

Oct 11, 2021. Parked in Glen Onoko parking lot. Lots of parking, but we could not find any toilets anywhere. Seems like with all that parking for visitors, the town or park should at least provide some porta-potties. We rode north for about 15 miles. Almost all of the trail was in great condition. There were a few spots near Glen Onoko with very loose fill that required walking (32 mm wide tires). Very nice scenery, and not crowded on a holiday Monday. Nice facilities at the Rockport trailhead. Overall a great ride!

Enola Low Grade Trail

Beautiful Fall Bike Ride

October, 2021 by kdenikend

Nice (approx 20 mile) out and back bike ride on a beautiful fall day. Appreciated the well maintained mostly level gravel pathway. Left from Quarryville area parking lot and rode to the Martic Forge closure. Many birds crossed the path as well as woolly bear caterpillars. Nice to know that there are 2 bike stations along the way if needed. We'll be back!
