The West 6th St Trail utilizes an abandoned rail corridor that runs partially parallel to West 6th Street, through an urban area of Gainesville. The paved hiking and biking pathway connects to the Depot Avenue Rail Trail at its southern end, and terminates at the north end at NW 16th Avenue. The trail is planned to eventually extend further north to NW 39th Avenue.
There are no designated parking areas for the trail, though it is easily accessed from a number of parking lots along its length. There is public parking available near the southern end, across 6th Street at Tumblin' Creek Park. The trail can also be accessed from the Depot Avenue Rail Trail at the southern end.
Don’t let the short mileage fool you. This little nugget moves you through some great breweries, right next to one of Gainesville’s bike shops, you cruise by a grocery store all while connecting you to a series of longer trails. And it does so very Safely through downtown Gainesville. I appreciate this trail immensely.
