Bear Creek Trail (MO) Description

Columbia’s Bear Creek Trail links two of the city's most popular community parks: the 533-acre Columbia Cosmopolitan Recreation Area (popularly known as Cosmo Park) in the west and the 81.5-acre Albert-Oakland Park in the east. Between the parks, the trail follows Bear Creek across the northern part of the city.

One highlight along the trail is the Garth Nature Area, where an adjoining gravel trail loops around the scenic wetlands area. The segment between the Garth Nature Area and Creasy Springs Road features a long boardwalk built into a steep hillside.

As you enter Cosmo Park, you will pass a network of mountain bike trails and an off-leash dog area. Just south of there, the trail provides direct access to the more developed parts of Cosmo Park, featuring a golf course, skate park, roller hockey rink and sprawling sports complex.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Bear Creek Trail is available at four designated trailheads: the north end of Cosmo Park off Business Loop 70 West; 3201 Creasy Springs Road; the Garth Nature Area at 2799 N. Garth Avenue; and Albert-Oakland Park at 1900 Blue Ridge Road.
