South Providence Trail offers a straight north-south route paralleling its namesake roadway on the southern end of Columbia. As it’s adjacent to both Rock Bridge Elementary School and Rock Bridge High School, the trail offers a safe way for students to reach their neighborhoods, as well as restaurants and shopping along busy South Providence Road.
The trail crosses Southhampton Drive and travelers can reach additional recreational amenities by heading west on the sidewalk paralleling that roadway, then turning right (north) at Bethel Street to reach Cosmo-Bethel Park. The park offers numerous opportunities for outdoor fun, including volleyball and tennis courts, playing fields, a playground, and a fishing pond. It also has picnic shelters and restrooms.
Parking is available just west of the trail in Cosmo-Bethel Park (4500 Bethel Street).
