Located on the outskirts of Meridian, the Bonita Reservoir Trail is a smooth and flat paved trail that loops around the man-made lake within the city's Bonita Lakes Park. The park is quite popular with locals looking for fishing, horseback riding, and picnic outings, and the trail offers a great, accessible way to experience some of the park's lovely natural setting.
The paved trail runs for just over a mile in total, while unpaved hiking and equestrian trails offer an additional host of mileage within the wooded lands to the southwest. Providing a nice accompaniment for a family outing or a pleasant place to get in a job or walk, the Bonita Reservoir Trail is a true recreation asset for the Meridian area.
Parking is available at several points around the park off of Bonita Reservoir Road, just south of State Route 19 in eastern Meridian, less than a mile east from Exit 154 off Interstate 20/59. Restroom facilities are also available in the park.
This trail is beautiful and flat. It’s in a park where there are hills and other off road trails. The off road trails are well marked and wide. (About 5 miles) Once in the park, there is more parking if you drive up the road. The reservoir trail has a sign saying. NO DOGS NO BIKES. The rest of the park allows leashed dogs and bikes. Highly recommend this park for a variety of beautiful outdoor trails!
