Located within the New Castle County park, the Delcastle Recreational Park Walking Trail forms an almost two-mile loop around the perimeter of the recreation site, providing cyclists and pedestrians with a paved circuit for exercise and fun in this suburban section of Delaware. The trail is quite popular with local joggers and dog-walkers, so expect to have some company on your outing.
The park is host to playgrounds, tennis courts, soccer and softball fields, and a nice expanse of open space, giving trail users a bit of scenery to enjoy. The western half of the trail is nicely shaded and provides a connection to a local elementary school, while the eastern half is more exposed as it parallels McKennans Church Road. Across the road at the northern end of the park, trail users can access the end of the Mill Creek Greenway, which heads west across the golf course property and into the forested land that surrounds the nearby neighborhoods.
Connecting local residents to the park's recreation facilities, as well as other trails and local schools and neighborhoods, the Delcastle Recreational Park Walking Trail provides a bit more than a simple walk in the park.
Parking is available within Delcastle Park, located at 2920 Duncan Road in Wilmington, with the main entrance on McKennans Church Road.
Nice walk, mostly sunny paved
Nice loop around local park. Very busy with walkers every time I've ever been there.
Paved circular path around sports complex and nice playground with exercise equipment along path. Fairly busy area for recreational walkers. Not particularly scenic but a nice county park.
