Located within the wooded acres of Quarry Hill Park, a popular recreation destination in Rochester, the Quarry Hill Family Trail is a flat, paved multi-use trail that serves as a connection in the area's trail network, as well as a pleasant place for a quick jog or stroll. The park is home to a stretch of Silver Creek, with deer, turtles, and a variety of bird species calling the area their home; within the park is the Quarry Hill Nature Center, where visitors can learn about the local wildlife, as well as the rich history of fossil collection in the area.
The Family Trail provides a link between the main parking lots that service the park, as well as the Civic Center Trail, which feeds in from downtown Rochester to the west. At the nature center, trail users can continue north up to Parkwood Hills Park and beyond on the John Wellner Memorial Trail. Due to its location, the Family Trail can function as a standalone trail for a quick family outing, or as just one more stop on a longer day of riding around Rochester on the city's excellent network of trails and bike paths.
Parking is available at the Quarry Hill Nature Center, located at 701 Silver Creek Road NE. Additional parking is available at the western lot next to the athletic fields, located at the end of 9th Street NE, to the east of 19th Avenue NE.
