South Riverside Trail Description

The South Riverside Trail is one in a series of trail systems throughout Cedar Falls, Iowa. The trail runs between Main Street at the Cedar Falls Recreation Center and the Greenhill Trail just west of US Highway 218. A spur on the west end takes you across the river on a pedestrian bridge. From the there, the South Riverside Trail meets up with the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail.

The scenic trail passes through a wooded corridor and along the beautiful Cedar River for a short stretch. It also passes through Pfeiffer Springs Park and Veterans Memorial Park. Near the latter, the trail meets the northern end point of the Cedar Prairie Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the South Riverside Trail at its western terminus is available at the Cedar Falls Recreation Center off E. 13th St. just east of Main St. Continuing east along the trail, you can also park at Veterans Memorial Park (E. 14th Court at Bluff St.), Pfieffer Springs Park off Grand Blvd. and at Park Drive. Access to the trail is available from the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail and from the Greenhill Trail.

South Riverside Trail Reviews

Great for bike riding

This is a beautiful section of trail for walking, running, biking. It is one of my favorite trails to ride when in Iowa. Rather flat paved path that runs along the river, and tree covered for a shady ride on warmer days.

Check Mileage

The trail is 5 miles in lenth. Not "50." Typo. Beautiful trail. Shady, mostly flat and part of one of the most popular trail loops in the Cedar Valley Trail system consisting of 80 miles of trails and growing.
