Great Guernsey Trail

Ride this trail with my son

March, 2023 by cireiii

Really flat. Not much scenery. The pavement was in good shape though. Won’t ride again, as there are much better trails not too far away.

Great trail to ride

Rode from Nelsonville south about 7 miles south and back September 14, 2022. It was a beautiful day on a great trail. Would love to go back and ride the other end.

Round Trip Ride from Nelsonville with Great Lunch

October, 2022 by marklemoine

My wife and I started our ride in Nelsonville, at the trailhead located behind Rocky’s Outdoor Gear Store. We rode down to Athens and back (approx 16 miles round trip). It was a beautiful fall day along the peaceful trail covered with foliage. Upon returning to Nelsonville, we then were pleasantly surprised to find a great lunch spot right inside Rocky’s at their own restaurant called Starbrick BBQ. Made a great day even better.

Moonville Rail Trail

Beautiful and secluded…nice new bridges…didn’t see any ghosts ¿

September, 2022 by bikin-mike

Rode 3.7 one-way beautiful, secluded miles from Mineral to the Hope-Moonville Rd trailhead. The new bridges are wonderful. Really enjoyed the two completely different tunnels. Trail surface was great…just watch out for the road apples 😀

Bridges west of Moonville trailhead still not done. I didn’t even see any signs of construction so I think it might be many years until we see those.

Did not see a designated parking lot in Mineral. There is room across from the trail for about 3 cars. We parked there, but found out later that it is actually someone’s driveway….oops. I suspect you can park in the church lot north of the trail.

You can ride about 1/2 a mile east of Mineral on the driveway until it ends at a double locked gate with posted signs and flags. We saw one fellow ride around…hmmm. A few shallow mud puddles.

Like orangedoug said, better bring the bug spray. No problems while we were moving, but they loved to visit us when we stopped.

I’m thinking this might be one of the most secluded rides in Ohio. Loved it!!! Hoping they can extend it east and west someday….bikin-mike…Aug 2022

Little Kanawha Connector Trail

Not in the greatest area in town

August, 2022 by jamie.cutlip

I haven’t ridden the trail on bike, but I’ve driven the parts that are on the road. Depot St. is bordered by abandoned buildings that are known for drug activity. As a woman, I wouldn’t ride this trail alone or without protection.

North Bend Rail Trail

Poorly Maintained Trail

August, 2022 by jaybo8

Started in Clarksburg and rode South 26 miles r/t. This trail could be great but the base is grass, mud and stones that are so large it is dangerous to ride .2 tunnels were nice but had to walk our bikes through them. Base is large ruts, large stones with water running through tunnels. Salem was asphalt and great! I do not recommend this trail until base is safer to ride on. is tricky.

North Bend Rail Trail

Ride the North Bend

July, 2022 by bikenhike_tl

This 72-mile rail-trail is maintained by 1 Trail Superintendent with 2 seasonal workers, and 1 dedicated Volunteer. When there is a storm of the magnitude of July 2022, it is impossible to get all the trees cleared even in a week. As for the eastern end of the North Bend, there has been utility work that used the trail without proper restoration, followed by fiber optic construction that tore up $1.8 Million of work in Doddridge and Harrison Counties done a couple years ago. Drainage work is being attempted as soon as possible. Working with grants that require match funding means acquiring those funds (20% of the total costs). And once a receiving a grant, nothing can be done until a notice to proceed is received (2014 are now being given notice to proceed in my City).

Please realize that all the lovely trails we all love to ride require funds to be maintained (and volunteers to do the labor). Consider helping your trails.

North Bend Rail Trail

Roundtrip

July, 2022 by cj951964

Rode this trail in five segments over a course of a month with each segment starting from where I turned around at. Overall not bad but it seems like the parties responsible for maintaining the trail in Doddridge and Harrison county have failed. Wood and Ritchie Counties had a good base but the other two haven’t done much to clear the trails after storms. Large trees in several places across the trail. The two lane paths looks like car tracks and some spots is liking riding in someone’s yard. Jumped on the parallel road to bypass these. The roadbeds have larger stones put in low areas and makes riding on a disaster waiting to happen. Beware, these stones have been put in the tunnels also and creates for tricky navigation. Make sure you have a bright light when going through them.

Great trail!

July, 2022 by nkcx2cdb45

We only biked along part of this trail, but it was so great and so peaceful! We started in Athens, down by Sonic and Stimson Ave. We rode down about 7 miles. Passed through OU’s campus and went along through the Plains. We veered off to swing by the Joe Burrow Stadium! We were able to hop quickly back on the trail to head back. There is a cute restaurant/bar that would be fun to stop at for food, drink, and live music, but we were out early on the trail! Loved this one and would love to complete the whole trail, but we were worried about going down and back for so long. Enjoy!!!!

Shady and paved! We enjoyed the Eclipse company store for a great meal. Done inside or out!

Gallia County Hike & Bike Trail

Great ride

June, 2022 by sioranth

I rode from the trailhead at Farm Rd to the end and back. Great shade, friendly people, not busy/crowded at all. Bird nerd paradise! So many species and songs! Trail was perfumed with the sweet smell of honeysuckle throughout. Very easy ride but recommend walking up the steep slope at the park because you have to come to a dead stop at the apex or you're in the street.
