Toll Gate Creek Trail

Toll Gate Creek Trail Hampden to quincy

September, 2020 by judipowers

I have been walking this trail and others and am so disappointed with the lack of pride people take in this area. Benches littered with cigarette butts , broken glass that can damage a dogs foot pads, and just general lack of upkeep. Not sure who is responsible but this is not what this should look like, we can and should do better....

Columbine Trail

Nice trail

September, 2020 by rob.reis1962

This is another nice trail in the area. As others have noted, much of the trail has been improved to very rideable. We did have one detour that took us through a neighborhood to avoid a repair area in progress. We picked up the trail from the C-470 bike way trail which has a slight stretch that runs beside the 470 just before you cross under the 470 from Chatfield Park. The C-470 trail has some of the traffic noise on it in that stretch, but don’t get discouraged and continue on to the Columbine Trai if you enter from that direction

Mary Carter Greenway (Arapahoe Greenway)

Nice easy trail

September, 2020 by rob.reis1962

This is an easy trail that connects to many others. There are some areas where you can stop along the way and have a snack. There are just enough bike riders, joggers, and walkers to pass along the way as to feel safe at all times.

Platte River Trail (CO)

cherry creek trailhead junction

September, 2020 by tds_4christ

I’ve ridden south from this junction down past Dartmouth where the trail connects westward to the Bear Creek trail. However the app indicates that the Platte River trail ends past Dartmouth but that’s incomplete information cuz the Platte trail continues many miles south past Littleton. Great ride but it does have some rough patches (and some rough neighborhoods)

Peaks to Plains Trail

I had a great time here! I have disabilities and walking this was less stressful due to the paved path. Many bikers and climbers out for the difficult terrain as well. The water is beautiful and great to focus on while walking through here.

Columbine Trail

Great Connector - New Pavement

August, 2020 by rcarnotap

This trail used to be terrible with huge cracks in the asphalt. Over the last two years it has been completely repaved. New asphalt in the South Suburban segment and new concrete in Jeffco. The last segment between the C-470 connection is currently being paved in concrete. Ugly detour for another week or two (8/13/2020).

Sand Creek Trail

Homeless, dirt patches, run down, and more

August, 2020 by asevans48

The trail is nice from its Northern starting point near Sand Creek Elementary to Chelton road. The next patch after this is paved to a barrier erected by the homeless leading directly into a homeless camp all the way to the Hancock Expressway. You have to skate/ride through the camp. After that, the path becomes a mix of unkept dirt patches and homeless people past the jail to the sports park and connection with the Front Range Trail.

As a skater, I had a better time on the Front Range Trail/Pikes Peak Regional Greenway (South/North at the park). That part is dirt and requires the large wheels of a tri-skate.

As with all Colorado Springs trails, you will be dissapointed. 0/5 for 90 % 5/5 for 1/4 of a mile.

Peaks to Plains Trail

Four fantastic miles of cycling. This may be the most beautiful paved trail we have experienced in 46 years of cycling. Parking lots do not allow for RVs but we found a pull-off just east of the current Eastern trailhead.

Coal Creek Regional Trail

Enjoyable Ride

August, 2020 by flynnbj

We’re parked up at the top of the hill on Highway 42, and rode into Louisville along Coal Creek all the way to the golf course and almost all the way up to McCaslin.. The trail offer is a lot of enjoyable winding and a lot of shaded area which was very welcoming on a hot day like today.

Rock Island Trail (CO)

Unkept, broken benches, could be great

August, 2020 by asevans48

This trail needs serious maintenance work. There is a pile of dirt under every bridge. Handrails are down as well between Galley and Murray. The concrete is broken beyond the point of being called concrete between Shooks Run and the newer trail. This is a commuter trail that no one cares about. It was nice to commute down the Cherry Creek Trail to work in Denver and from Denver to Englewood/Chatfield. I could even skate those trails they were so well taken care of. Hopefully, someone starts to take care of Shooks Run, the Legacy Loop, and the Rock Island trail. It could make the city more appealing to start ups, making the commute to Denver less of a necessity ($97 per day spent outside city limits on gas/food/car wear and tear).

If Colorado Springs took a little more care of and updated its trail system, you could actually commute to work without using a car. Sadly, that is impossible with the state of this system.
