The Beacon Trail provides a straight east-west route across Doral, a northwestern suburb of Miami. The paved pathway stretches just over a mile, beginning near Miami International Airport and heading west to NW 107th Avenue.
The trail is tucked between a canal and NW 25th Street for its entire length. Because of its close proximity to the roadway, the trail is perhaps better suited for commuting than recreation. It will one day extend farther west to connect to the Turnpike Trail, which parallels the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, offering more transportation options.
On its east end, the trail is less than a mile from Doral Central Park, the largest park in the city, which surrounds a beautiful lake and is worth a side trip.
Parking is available less than a mile from the east end of the Beacon Trail in Doral Central Park (3000 NW 87th Ave.).
