Bradford Creek Greenway is definitely a green way winding just over 2 miles through Madison under cover of a dense hardwood forest. The paved pathway begins at Palmer Road (at the entrance to Palmer Park) and heads north following Bradford Creek past residential neighborhoods to end at Heritage Elementary School.
The trail has marked lanes separating walkers and bikers, offers trailside benches and picnic tables, and provides nice views of the creek, rural horse fields, and wetland areas, where you might spot beavers, possums, deer, and many species of birds.
Future plans call for extending the trail farther north to Liberty Middle School, further enhancing the corridor as a safe transportation route for students.
Parking is available at the south terminus of the trail within Palmer Park (574 Palmer Road); the trailhead is on Palmer Road.
A nice little Greenway, failed only by any interesting structure. Kinda feels like your riding in someone’s back yard. Great if you live in one of the connecting subdivisions; but a bit boring.
My husband walked this trail with me twice before he realized that, at points, it is flanked on either side with houses. It’s that easy to forget you’re in the city. Parking is ample and easy to access if using the lot attached to the elementary school property. (Cannot speak for the other) Everyone I have met has been as nice as could be and with a pretty flat and well shaded path it’s a delight.
Nice paved trail through woods and running along side Bradford creek. This Greenway is shady and cool in the summer and good for a quick ride/walk/run in the morning or after work, as well as to travel to some local businesses. New pavement links it to a short path at the Mill Creek Dog park traveling along Mill Road, a distance of about a mile. From Mill Road south it is .7 miles to Palmer Park. From Mill Road north, it is 1.7 miles to Heritage Elementary school.
From the School, you can continue on a paved path running the length of County line road, from HWY 72 to HWY 20, a distance approximately 5 miles. (nearly complete as of 10/2016)
Park at Mill Creek Dog Park, Mill Creek Elementary, Palmer Park, Heritage Elementary or parking lots along County Line Rd. for access.
