The Damonte Ranch Trail is a paved, multi-use trail that runs throughout the wetland areas and subdivided neighborhoods in the southern Reno neighborhood of Damonte Ranch. The bulk of the trail is comprised of a roughly three mile loop around the large wetlands that lie to the north of the residential area; the trail is popular among runners, dog-walkers, and cyclists, giving trail users a nice dose of nature and wildlife on the outskirts of this suburban setting. Along the way, the trail passes through Damonte Ranch Park, which is home to a playground and open space area that attracts nearby families.
Shorter spur trails branch off from the main loop, providing pathways through the residential blocks that border the natural space; two paths lead from the eastern side of the loop down to Rio Wrangler Parkway, where the sprawling campus of the local high school is located. Another spur leads south behind a row of homes, crossing the parkway and continuing around the perimeter of the development out to Western Skies Drive. Providing a useful pathway for getting around the area and getting in some exercise, the Damonte Ranch Trail is a nice addition to the trail network in southern Reno - which trail users can take advantage of by continuing south from the southwestern end of the wetlands loop on the Caramella Ranch Trail.
Parking and restrooms are available along the trail at Damonte Ranch Park, located at 1950 Steamboat Parkway in Reno.
