Situated on the edge of the gargantuan Intel corporate campus in the Albuquerque suburb of Rio Rancho, the Intel Trail provides a nice little eight-foot wide pathway through the open space between the nearby residential neighborhoods and the sea of concrete that makes up the company's regional hub. The trail traverses rolling hills and fields dotted with stubby desert plants for just over a mile, with views of the outlying mountains somewhat obscured by the overhead power lines that parallel the trail. On the northern end of the trail, the Thompson Fenceline Trail continues along the utility corridor for several additional miles - together, the trails constitute a nifty route for recreation on the eastern edge of the rapidly growing suburban community.
No dedicated parking is available for this trail. The northern end of the trail can be reached from the sidewalk that leads down Meadowlark Lane from the Vista Verde Memorial Park cemetery; be sure to follow any posted parking signs and regulations.
