The Thompson Fenceline Trail runs through a power line utility corridor along the border of the Albuquerque suburbs of Rio Rancho and Corrales, traveling along the outskirts of dense suburban neighborhoods through flat desert shrubland. The trail offers plentiful, sweeping views of the imposing Sandia Mountains to the east, and also offers access to a number of small local parks situated in neighborhoods along the route, making the trail a vital recreational asset in the community.
On the southern end of the trail, the Intel Trail picks up across the street and continues south along the edge of the massive business complex for the Intel Corporation, allowing you to travel a combined one-way distance of over three miles.
Dedicated parking is available at the northern end of the trail on Villa Verde Drive, just north of Palmas Altas Drive.
Additional parking is available next to the playground and trail entrance on Dolores Hidalgo Drive south of Sabana Grande Avenue, located around the midpoint of the trail.
