Located in the Mariposa subdivision in a currently isolated section of northwestern Rio Rancho, the Mariposa Parkway Trail is part of the foundation for planned future development, providing a nice paved pathway that follows its namesake roadway into the hills and up to the community center that serves as the heart of this growing residential area.
Heading south and east from the Mariposa Community Center, the trail has plenty of separation from the road, occupying a corridor lined with native shrubs and stubby trees as it descends along the edges of the area filled by suburban-style homes. The trail quickly reaches the limits of the subdivision, where the Mariposa Recreational Trail connects in from the southwest, and continues to weave along the side of the road all the way out to Unser Boulevard. As the community continues to develop, these trails will ensure that residents have a great option for recreation and exercise right in their backyards.
Parking is available at the northern end of the trail at the Mariposa Community Center, located at 2501 Parkway Avenue.
