Cutting a three mile swath across suburban Rio Rancho, the Northern Boulevard Trail provides a great alternative transportation pathway for cyclists and pedestrians as it runs along the south side of its namesake roadway. While this sidepath trail may not provide much shade or scenery and requires frequent road crossings, the trail offers a wide path that provides a useful means of traversing through the area without the use of a car.
Starting in the east, a short segment of trail leads from quiet neighborhoods in Corrales up to the busy state highway. Across the highway, the main trail begins in earnest along Northern Boulevard, heading north and then west alongside a series of residential neighborhoods. Along the way, the trail connects with the Loma Colorado Boulevard Trail, and at the western end, the Broadmoor Boulevard Trail, which help connect in turn to numerous parks, schools, and other important community destinations.
No dedicated parking is available for this trail. Trail users may utilize parking options for the connecting Broadmoor Boulevard Trail or Loma Colorado Boulevard Trail.
