Sunset Drive Trail Description

This is a rolling paved trail that follows along the shoreline of Guntersville Lake and is alongside Sunset Drive. Some of the hills are a little long, but there are plenty of flat areas as well. The trail goes by a fishing pier, the Guntersville Farmer's Market, Guntersville Middle School, the Civitan Park, baseball fields, a shopping center, the Guntersville Recreation Center, a beach area, and more. It is a beautiful trail and a lot of fun to navigate.

Parking and Trail Access

At the trail head you can park at the Guntersville Chamber of Commerce, or there is a very small parking area along the road. If you follow the road the there are at least a dozen paved parking areas of varying sizes.

Sunset Drive Trail Reviews

Well Maintained

A very nice, well maintained trail with ample bathroom facilities, trash and recycle receptacles. Well paved double-lane path out and back. Beautiful views of Lake Guntersville and neighboring communities. Plenty of picnic tables and benches and water filling stations. If they could bridge busy Hwy 69 which you cross it might be perfect.

Nice trail along the lake

Very nice trail along the lake. Easy to find and wide enough for bikes going both directions. Some goose poop to dodge, but other than that very nice scenery.

Beautiful, fun ride

Lovely Greenway along Guntersville lake with one big hill.

Awesome visit!

This trail is amazing! It is fully paved and is 3.7 miles along the gorgeous lakeshore of Guntersville Lake. Lots of areas to sit and picnic and watch the geese and ducks. You can even take a dip in the lake. Dog friendly(leashed, but they can splash in the lake). Our dog LOVED every bit of the walks and the water and geese! There is a farmer's market as well. Lots of parking at various points along the road and a huge playground/park for the kiddos. The city of Guntersville is very nice with lots of restaurants nearby. Be forewarned we did not see any public restrooms, but it looked like they were building some. There were port-a-potties at the public beach area.

Nice View

Beautiful view...I found this trail while searching for paved bike trails. It’s too short for trying to get high miles in but great for walking.

Relaxing, slightly rolling trail along water and through trees. Plenty of benches and tables. I'm really glad I found this one.
