Louisville Loop

Floyd’s Fork section

March, 2026 by westrichdave

My wife and I rode the Floyd’s Fork section today. The weather was beautiful and the trail was pretty and fun! Some parts are in the trees and bushes and you feel like you’ve gotten away from the world. The trail itself is well maintained. We came across many people who were walking, jogging and biking. If you are a biker and moving a little too fast, you will need to be careful on the bends so you don’t get in a “tight spot” with other people! we truly enjoyed riding on this section of the loop.

Lunken Airport Trail

super fun and different

Great paved surface and well kept. I like that it is a loop and shows you some really cool sights of the airport.

Mill Creek Greenway Trail

The trail

December, 2025 by sjf0809

I rode the trail in late October. In the northern section, much dead brush, grass and limbs were on the windy path that went through the wooded area. Some tree roots were pushing up the asphalt and much of fence that separated the trail from the businesses was broken. After I crossed the street, I saw more trash on the southern part. The trail ended at the bottom of the stairs that led to the street. It was Autumn so I expected leaves and such, but the trash needs to get removed. Hopefully a work day to clean up the brush and trash is being planned, since it sure needed it.
Not bad of a trail for a short ride or a stroll, if it could be kept up better. Probably like most trails, time, workers, volunteers, and money are in short supply.
The southern section is fine along Mill Creek and Salway Park. It then seemed to dead end at a fence by a business but where the red line on TrailLink said the trail was located and should continue. The red line needs to move to the sidewalk along William P Dooley Bypass/Spring Grove Ave. I crossed that road about 2:45, just biking fast when I saw a break in traffic. It would be better to have a cross walk signal of some sort. At rush hour it would be terrible in my opinion. There was only about 3/10's (guessing) on the other side of the road until the trail ended. This 2-mile or so trail was kept up better than the northern section. Any trail is better than none, so it is good for the area.

The trail was well marked, scenic and well-maintained. We rode it twice, once in each direction.

Great ride!

Indiana has done a beautiful job with this trail. Could use real restrooms on New Albany end but the port a pots were fairly clean.

Monon South Trail

Good start to the Monon South

As of May 2025 you can ride about 10 miles uninterrupted from Deam Lake to Pekin. The trail is paved through 5 towns (Borden, Pekin, Salem, Orleans, Mitchell). Restroom facilities are being built in a couple of those towns. It’s crushed lime except in the towns. Very enjoyable trail.

Louisville Loop

Riverwalk section is awful

April, 2025 by tod.hanson

We rode the Riverwalk section and the Big Four Bridge. The bridge was great, the Riverwalk was not. It is true they had major flooding about 3 weeks ago and, understandably, this was not yet fully remediated. But even in unaffected areas the majority of the trail goes through dilapidated inner city and industrial sections with only minimal and unmaintained landscaping, hardscaping, or other park amenities. If you want a much better southern Riverwalk trail experience, go to Chattanooga TN or Columbus GA.

Big Four Bridge

Salvaged the Louisville Loop experience

We crossed the Big Four Bridge while riding the River Walk portion of the Louisville Loop trail. The bridge was way better than the trail.

Ohio River Trail

Great trail with potential to connect

December, 2024 by luv_mlb25

I ran this trail on December 26, 2024. Started at the 5-mile road section and ended at Waites Rd. This measured 2.13 miles. Then picked up again at Ebersole Community Center and ran that entire segment including the off spur to canoe ct/trailhead, ending at Corbin Street and this measured 5.16 miles. The last segment started at the Crystailine Tower and ended at Smith Street and that measured 2.75 miles....so that is closer to 10 mile run. The site measures it as close to 8 and I don't know if they just didn't include a segment or not, but it was clearly closer to 10 miles. The sites were fantastic and the middle segment has some breathtaking views of just amazing wide open views around the airport. I would run this more if I lived closer to this trail. I never felt unsafe on the trail and there were quite a few people on the trail with the nice weather in December. HIghly recommend the trail :)

Louisville Loop

Louisville Loop Trail (Parklands of Floyd Fork portion)

Beautiful trail, may be the best my wife and I have ridden and we’ve ridden many in several Midwestern states. Well maintained, plenty of clean restrooms along the way. Many interesting points of interest and the scenery was stunning on a cloudless October morning.
