Little Miami Scenic Trail

Between the Ohio River and Morrow, very good trail.

August, 2025 by mbroder

We spent the weekend riding the trail from The Lunken Airport segment to the village of Morrow. This is a fantastic trail. It is well maintained and well marked. It has lots of things to see and do. There are many places along the trail to stop and get lunch.

We got on the trail at Milford. It was a Saturday morning and parking was full. A sign indicated more parking across the bridge and we parked in a city lot between Main and Water streets. I recommend scouting out parking before going to Milford. We first rode towards the Ohio River. There are many parks and things to do along the way. It looked like Fifty West Brewing (a restaurant/tavern along the trail) was hosting a bike event that day, we saw several hundred bikers there registering for something. Later 2 people wearing pinned on race numbers said the 2025 Tour de CROWN event was going on. That explained the many people with numbers on the trail throughout the morning. Just down the trail at Bass park, we saw some people Lawn Bowling and stopped to watch. A couple heard us arguing if it was Lawn Bowling or Bocci-ball, and came over and explained what we were looking at. Interesting. We watched for a while and headed on. We circled Lunken airport and headed back. We stopped for lunch back in Milford, eating at the Little Miami Brewing Company, sitting outside right along the river. The place was packed. Lots of Kayakers were eating there; they parked their Kayaks along the river and came up. There are also other nice places to eat in Milford.

After lunch, we rode the trail from Milford towards Miamiville. This segment of the trail is more shaded. Even though the trail is in an urban area, it seemed like we were in a more secluded setting. The trees and vegetation block out the city buildings. Not as much going on, but a very pleasant ride. We turned around in Miamiville and headed back to Milford.

On Sunday we got on the trail at Loveland. Parking was filling up but not full. Like Milford, research parking before going to Loveland. We followed the trail to the north through Kings Mill and South Lebanon, turning around in Morrow. The trail was more rural in this section, but still there are lots of parks along the trail. We ate lunch in Loveland at The Wicked Pickle. They had live music and we ate outside, very relaxing. There are plenty of other places to choose. I also had ice cream at Graeter's. Loveland was very busy. There were a lot of people on and off the trail. We walked around the town for a while, then headed home.

All in all, I strongly recommend this section of the trail. Although it is a 3 hour drive, we will definitely be back.

Nice ride! Beautiful trail.

We started the trail at the horse park, and rode south from there. The scenery was gorgeous, although there is not a lot of shade. Luckily, there was a break in the weather when we were there from the oppressive heat we’ve been having.

My husband and I rode the trail this morning. We are staying at the RV Park/Kentucky Horse Park so getting on the trail was very easy from our site. No loading up the bike and trike on the truck and driving to a starting point. The trail is nice with well maintained asphalt. The grass along the trail edges had been freshly mowed. You have to cross some streets but it wasn't a problem. Only complaint was it could have used more shade trees. Definitely a worth while ride.

Equal parts road and trail

June, 2025 by tomc1973

This trail really isn't much of a trail as at least half of it is on roads used by cars and in most of those places the shoulder is a foot or two at the most so you truly are on the road. The one saving grace is that the roads are very lightly traveled. The west parts where it is trail is nice and scenic, the east part is noticeably older although in decent shape. The trail does have moderate hills and is very shady. The trail would be much higher rated if it wasn't on roads for over half of it.

Beautiful ride!

Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and temperature. The trail was really nice. We parked at the spot near the horse park and road toward the end point near the horse park. The horses were still grazing in the morning prior to the opening of the park. We road to Newtown Pike and had lunch at the Jimmy John’s. We decided not to continue into town along the trail. Instead we headed back to the end point near the horse park again. All together we rode 19.8 miles and were blessed with a nice breeze. So glad we made the drive from Louisville. A nice change and beautiful landscapes.

Great Trail…Except

This trail is fantastic and an easy day ride. I would not venture any farther north than the Hartman Rock Garden, which I would recommend seeing. That’s because the trail is dangerous in Springfield. It’s scary, goes through a rough part of town, with loose dogs, shady characters and “call 911” painted along the trail for good reason. Heading south from the rock garden is a joy with many sights along the way. This is one of my favorite rides in Ohio so far.

Great trail, signage not awesome

April, 2025 by tod.hanson

Loved the trail - only did Xenia to Yellow Springs and back, in conjunction with one of the connector trails. Signs use trail numbers vs names, which we didn’t realize until we were on trail… Also, not clear signage at key intersections where trails intersect or turn. Won’t be a problem if you’re expecting/prepared for it, but not as clear and user friendly as many other top tier rail trails we’ve ridden.

Needs signage, facilities, parking

April, 2025 by runer4jc

I started at the trail “ending” downtown - but there was no parking, no trailhead, no facilities, and no sign to identify the trail. Strange. I parked at the Catholic Church down the street. I was told I could park at the YMCA, but how do out of town people know this. Then, it was difficult to follow the trail at crossings - very few signs or road markings. The trail is nice, good surface, and beautiful scenery toward the north end. But then it ends at a farm gate - no parking, no facilities, no trailhead, and no signs. Strange. Lexington needs to develop it more! a nice trail.

Great trail with potential to connect

December, 2024 by luv_mlb25

I ran this trail on December 26, 2024. Started at the 5-mile road section and ended at Waites Rd. This measured 2.13 miles. Then picked up again at Ebersole Community Center and ran that entire segment including the off spur to canoe ct/trailhead, ending at Corbin Street and this measured 5.16 miles. The last segment started at the Crystailine Tower and ended at Smith Street and that measured 2.75 miles....so that is closer to 10 mile run. The site measures it as close to 8 and I don't know if they just didn't include a segment or not, but it was clearly closer to 10 miles. The sites were fantastic and the middle segment has some breathtaking views of just amazing wide open views around the airport. I would run this more if I lived closer to this trail. I never felt unsafe on the trail and there were quite a few people on the trail with the nice weather in December. HIghly recommend the trail :)

great trail

Husband and I are new EBike riders. We haven’t ridden bikes in 30+ years. We loved this trail. We try to be respectful when approaching other bikers and runners. We parked at Coldstream and rode north to horse park. Rode into the campground and stopped for ice cream in camp store. I have read comments about road noise from I-75, but honestly the trail and scenery are still beautiful. We rode about 15 miles after meandering a bit off trail at Horse park. We rode on Saturday and there were a lot of people on the path but everyone shared i

Great Experience.

My son and I hiked the trail for one of his Scout merit badges. A well maintained trail. Most cyclists were courteous about saying “passing on left”. There is water and picnic tables and restrooms at mile marker 5.6. There are also port-a-pots in a few other areas along the way. Our route took us from the Horse Park to the end of the trail and back. We did take a couple of the shorter trails off the main trail. Overall a great experience.
