Buffalo Bayou Trail

Stay away from EADO trail (North of Buffalo Bayou)

July, 2017 by m.alexrod.tech

7/22/2017
Location: McKee St. bridge entrance (no paved entrance) North of Buffalo Bayou heading east past Jensen Dr. until it converts into Swiney St.

This trail has no signs of entry or maintenance and is filled with homeless people seen along the trail (use caution).

The path under the 59 overpass seems especially unsafe hidden from public view and also filled with homeless and suspicious-looking people.

I wouldn't recommend and would avoid this trail (especially if alone). I couldn't find any updates by the city of Houston on the construction progress of this trail.

Rode today, or tried to ride...
Numerous major detours of closed trail around the medical center area.
Would have been nice to know this info. prior to making the trip.
Perhaps, TrailLink will find a method to keep us current on this pertinent information.
Trail that was open was really nice. Bluebonnets were seen in some areas already.

Brays Bayou Greenway Trail

Lots of recent improvements!

February, 2017 by norman.tiffany

Eastern sections of the trail from Mason Park to UH and MacGregor Park are so pretty! Very natural with lots of flowers, plants and wildlife. The stretch in the medical center and beyond is more urban, but very functional. Lots of recent upgrades to the trail and more is planned to expand the trail out to the city limits at Eldridge. Overall, I love this trail! #BayouGreenways

Getting better, better signage for pedestrians and bike trails would be great. I encountered peds on bike trail very often.

Columbia Tap Rail-Trail

WU Moms love this trail!

July, 2016 by madelinespec

I discovered this trail back in 2012. I was made aware of the issues they had (muggings) but I believe they have been resolved. It's a wonderful trail that connects us from the medical center/museum district to the east part of downtown. I ride this trail 2 - 3 times a month between 8am and noon. I've never had a problem and always ride with female friends.

Columbia Tap Rail-Trail

A well maintained North/South corridor

May, 2016 by sshadow

This trail is clean, smooth, well marked and well lit. I has many functioning benches and metal barriers to prevent access by larger vehicles. I have cycled this trail many times at various hours over the last 9 months going to and from downtown Houston. Although there are travelers from all walks of life, I have never been or felt threatened. However, it is prudent to be watchful- common sense for anyone anywhere commanding a wheeled vehicle. For me I am most weary of the numerous street crossings, some very busy, some have poor visibility to oncoming traffic until your tires kiss the sidewalk. At the north end of the trail one finds inspiring selfie ready urban murals.

MTB at Buffalo Bayou

April, 2016 by kmca1961

Great MTB trail that runs along Allen Parkway. Recent improvements and attractions has made this one of my favorite bike rides in the Metro-Houston area. The layout of the Park's bike/hike, friendly design should be the model for any future development.

Felt Threatened on Columbia Tap

February, 2016 by johnmoldy

About two years ago, 4 punks lunged at me as I rode on the trail. Although I avoided any trouble, I swore off this trail and have not ridden it since.

Columbia Tap Rail-Trail

good trail

September, 2015 by barsar

Have put off taking this trail but finally decided it was time to give it a go as it hooks nicely into BB hike and bike trail.sunday morning quite a few people out riding, jogging and walking.as with any of the trails around houston you just have to use common sense With your own safety. Will definite make this a frequent trail to explore

Columbia Tap Rail-Trail

Rider at own risk

December, 2014 by tfitz87

Would be a really nice trail except it travels through a rough neighborhood. As a 6'4" 250lbs man I choose a different route via surface streets that were not so secluded.

Brays Bayou Greenway Trail

Rough Ride

December, 2014 by tfitz87

Lots of unfinished sections where if they had just paved an extra 20 yards everything would be connected. Trail itself is very narrow with a steep drop off into the bayou around the medical center area. Also must aware of your surroundings be it the homeless that sleep under the bridges or anything east of 288 or further out west gets a little sketchy. I have never had a problem but the potential is there. It does have an underpass in the med center that connects to herman park and its a quick ride to rice university from there or down town.

Brays Bayou Greenway Trail

Not a very nice trail

November, 2014 by pnalder

Nice length, but very disjointed, and pretty ugly trail overall. Not very enjoyable overall.
