Burnt Bridge Creek Trail

It's pretty good

May, 2017 by josiah.peterson

The trail is pretty large and has some other trails where it leads off of. It seems good for biking. One issue I found with the trail were the power lines that were there. However, after a certain distance those are ignored.

Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail

Beautiful, but hard work

April, 2017 by biomom1954

We began at the Hatfield Trail head near Mosier. The trail is well maintained, paved with beautiful views of the Columbia River. However, it was a very difficult to ride with my Cat trike. After 2 miles of uphill climbing at 3 mph, we decided to coast on back. I would only recommend this trail section for riders in good shape with low gear experience or ebikes.

great trail, but I keep getting lost southbound at hwy. 224. Some signs would be good. Even painted on the sidewalk. Anything! The trail just ends and -- bang-- you're face to face with highways going every which way.

Gladstone seems to be particularly unfriendly to bikes. Don't they understand that bike traffic brings money-spending traffic without congesting roads?

Great walk to see the river and Portland Skyline

March, 2017 by darryll decoster

I love walking the esplanade during my lunch on sunny days. It has great views of the river and the city and can be just about as long as you want depending on which bridges you cross over. The only downside is that some of the cyclists take the trail way too fast for how crowded the path can get and that makes it a bit on the hazardous side if you're not really paying attention.

Springwater Corridor

I feel safe.

February, 2017 by doomed_earth

As a female, I feel safe on this trail. Yes homelessness is a problem but no one has bothered me and I love the trail and try to pick up litter when I can.

Marine Drive Trail

love it

February, 2017 by doomed_earth

Great for everyone. Heavily used, but only because it's open, awesome and full of wildlife! Birds galore! Also, wide trail allows for cyclists to cruise at a super quick pace. Awesome, awesome!

Burnt Bridge Creek Trail

not bad

January, 2017 by stephenpasquini

since I'm not from the area this was a neat ride to see some of the other parts of Vancouver it follows the electrical lines and a nice riverbed the ending is a bit anti-climactic but worth the trip overall

Springwater Corridor

Only went to Sellwood due to homeless camps

October, 2016 by gordyhawkins

Visiting from FL, we were warned about the problems with homeless encampments between 205 and Boring. So we did a loop from downtown to Sellwood and across Tillikum bridge and up west side of river. It was a great ride with views of the Willamette most of the way. We saw only one small camp and noone bothered us. Several people we talked to around Sept. 10 said plans were to move these campers off the Springwater Corridor. Not an easy job, but it seems a shame that cyclists are too afraid to use such a nice trail.

Boring Marathon

I did the very east end of this trial at the Boring end for the Boring Marathon in Sep 16. Great for running and didn't see any homeless people on the trail.

Springwater Corridor

is now HORRIBLE and DISGUSTING

September, 2016 by myka34

whenever i go running on the trail now i see homeless camps EVERYWHERE and they leave a DISGUSTING mess EVERYWHERE! they smoke, do drugs, drink, and harass me and other people walking/running/biking on the trail. tried calling the cops but they say its such a large problem that there is nothing they can do about it!!!

i don't see how law abiding, tax paying neighborhoods need to put up with this crap and when we ask the police or city to do something about it they say they can't because the problem is too big. does that mean we can all start breaking the law and as long as there are too many of us to arrest then its ok?!?!?!?

Springwater Corridor

Unpopulated and pleasant on the east end

September, 2016 by aholiday09

Every so often I rollerskate between Gresham City Park and Boring. For the most part, this section is very flat, with lots of trees and shrubs. More bicyclists out this way. I often see one homeless man who walks that section, but generally I feel safe on this stretch - no people camping out anyway!

Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail

4th of July ride Portland to The Dalles roads to trails.

September, 2016 by ecousin

With a little planning and a lot of will July 4th we leave Portland with intent of riding to The Dalles in 2 days. Well thanks to those before us it was relatively easy, thanks Sam Hill, Sam Lancaster and various other unnamed prison and other labor who actually did the work. And what a job it was. More recently thanks to Mark Hatfield. But either way before leaving Portland and deciding to follow the path it is now up to me. Away we go. Riding Marine Drive trail to Troutdale joining on the scenic highway now, heading as I know all uphill to Crown Point. Arriving here I know the pain is over. The George is so beautiful and stopping at the Vista house is winning for today. After enjoying the view arriving at Ainsworth Park for the night. Tomorrow press. Ainsworth to the Dalles is a serious ride and I know it. The first 8 miles beautiful bike pedestrian only. Thank you those who made this happen. Nice breakfast in Cascade Locks and love the Wheelman bike repair station, tools, tire pump just cool. Continue on the scenic highway. UNTIL we must get on interstate 3 miles, then 1 mile bike pedestrian path, then another 8 playing with cars. Hood River was welcome as I know I am done with Interstate traffic. A great lunch at Gracie Sue's place and then Switchbacks to Hatfield's signature. no cars, Moiser brings us another lightly traveled section of the Scenic Highway. Enter the Dalles and leave Scenic Highway enjoy the Riverfront trail to end my ride. What a great experience. Thinking of making it an annual event.
P.S. This is a WORK IN PROGRESS. THE 3 MILE INTERSTATE SECTION IS BEING REDUCED TO 1.5 AND THE TRIAL OPENING CERIMONY IS 9-24-16. I would love to be there but am going to ride (Car Free) around crater lake. Thanks to all the workers who will next year take 1.5 miles off of my interstate riding.
