Best ride in Wichita
No real trailhead parking Hoover Dr end of this trail. It follows along the back door of commercial and industrial properties. Not much to see.
I just started riding, this trail is amazing and beautiful! Can park in beautiful park in Goddard and ride either East or west. West toward Garden Plain has beautiful bridges. Well kept Trail thankful to those who keep it up!
It was a very windy day, but as this trail runs East - West and the wind was out of the north it was doable. Nice ride with plenty of shade and good rural views. I rode my recumbent with street tires and did okay. Watch out for the big gravel between Maize and Tyler Street(?). Other than that the crushed limestone was fine, but not much pavement so don’t look to hard for it. Limited food service near trail, but two bar/restaurants in Garden Plain. We ate at The Other Place and food was very good. The owners were very accommodating to us, helping to secure our bikes In the patio area. We felt very welcomed there! Extremely friendly along with the other folks we chatted with in Garden Plain. Good ride for lunch from Wichita.
A fantastic trail with great facilities in Goddard.
Rode all but really easternmost mile from Garden Plain. About 24 miles or so round trip. Fantastic condition and highly recommend this trail.
This is a great Bike Path. Although, I highly recommend to bike during the day as there are a couple areas along the way that are a bit sketch. There are several stops on this journey. I will definitely ride on it, again.
I rode from Maize rd to Garden Plain on a hybrid bike. The path was well kept with just a couple of larger rocks near garden plain. There are really nice parks in Goddard and just north of the trail end in garden plain. I will definitely ride again with my kids.
Really nice trail!! Saw deer and coyote between Goddard and Garden Plain.
Love the new part going from Andover towards Augusta. Not much traffics and nice chipped path. Like to run and bike on it.
I am not sure where this path starts to the west. I took an unmarked bike path from 135 to the RedBud trail a few miles away. It is paved and out of the way - which makes it nice for riding. But at one point the paved trail stops and a gravel portion starts. The gravel portion is blocked off making it look like it is closed. The gravel portion was ok. The gravel can be a bit loose and thick. I was riding 700x41 Knards and would not like to be on smaller tires. I wanted to really love this path BUT the constant road crossings was horrible. One intersection took me probably close to 5 minutes to cross - HORRIBLE. The street crossing are abundant and really made me dislike this trail (out east). The trails were also roped off so you had to stop and lift your bike over them - at least I had to. Parts of the trail were very nice but I gave up due to the street crossings. It was nice that this path crossed the K96 path which allowed me to connect trails and get in a 30 mile ride. Like the previous review, I hope they leave it gravel instead of concrete. Crushed limestone would be best and cheaper... Wichita is trying to provide a better bikeway (Bike, Hike, Walk) and this is a good start on the west end.
This is a connector path which makes it nice to get in longer rides. To the east is the K96 bike path. On the other end is the Canal hike and bike path which travels under 135. The ride will take you into an area marked with gang graffiti. I would not ride this path in the evening alone. I think early morning would be the safest but your experiences may vary. I liked the beginning of the trail off Oliver to 27th. The trail was clean and well kept.
