West Ashley Greenway

Not Safe

March, 2019 by stomperjohn

Correction: The previous review should read:
There have been several violent assaults on women on this trail. People keep saying its safe! However, I will bet the women who have been violently assaulted DON'T feel this way! THINK ABOUT IT! Read for yourself: http://www.live5news.com/2019/03/12/police-looking-man-who-assaulted-woman-west-ashley-greenway-monday-night-2/
How safe is the trail if people keep getting assaulted?

McQueen's Island Trail

Ugh, the erosion was terrible

December, 2018 by jdubose

I started out at Fort Pulaski and only got 0.7 miles in before reaching an impassable bridge. Went to the halfway point parking. Heading east led to a spot that had severe erosion. Heading west wasn't as bad. There was some erosion but I was able to go more than 2 miles from that point. It is beautiful and peaceful out there but I wanted to do 12 miles and was not able to because of the lack of maintenance of the trail.

Spanish Moss Trail

Beautiful ride

October, 2018 by lhyslop

This is a beautiful ride. Trail is very well maintained and with lovely views of the marshes and inlets. Easy to find parking lots on google Maps. There is easy access to Beaufort and Port Royal from the trail.

West Ashley Greenway

Very Very Nice Ride.

September, 2018 by dmckee622

A very nice trail. Pavement conditions were great with some places looking like it was newly paved. There was a few sections that were not paved, but they did not cause any problems (of course you wouldn't want to try them on a road bike). If you are ever in the area of Charleston, this is a must do trail. It doesn't disappoint!

West Ashley Bikeway

Decent Trail

September, 2018 by dmckee622

We rode this trail at the same time as we rode the West Ashley Greenway. I rated it 4 stars because about the western half would rate about 3 stars because of very rough unsafe pavement. The eastern half was very nice and would rate 5 stars easy. Even with the bad conditions on the western end, it was a nice ride. Just had to be very careful of the bad pavement conditions.

Sawmill Branch Multi-Use Trail

Nice Afternoon Ride!!

September, 2018 by dmckee622

Very nice trail. Smooth surface and fairly flat trail. Need more signage. We didn't see many signs and it was a little confusing at times. Not much shade so it was a hot ride (in the 90's). Might be better to plan to ride it in the morning or late in the afternoon or just during cooler weather.

Spanish Moss Trail

Great trail

August, 2018 by roconnor1034

This is any easy trail for families. Very flat and smooth. Rode from Beaufort to Port Royal. Sad part is the trail ends before you get to the historic main part of town. The “trail” continues with small signs marking the way through a residential area. You must cross HWY 21 (Ribaut Rd)

The trail was great. My Fitbit did not calculate 3 miles; it calculated only 2.70 miles.

Savannah & Ogeechee Canal Trail

Canal Trail

July, 2018 by clemsonbrian

$3 fee per adult. Easy walk along the old canal to the Ogeechee River and back. A hiking trail goes off to the left after you pass the restrooms. Bring bug spray in the summer.

New River Linear Trail

Walk along the old Seaboard Coastline Railroad

July, 2018 by clemsonbrian

Can be very muddy after a lot of rain. A quiet walk through what was once rice fields in the New River marsh. Trail ends at the New River where the old railroad bridge had burned down. Wish the trail went all the way to the rivers edge.

Nice easy flat trail with great views of the lowcountry marsh. Concrete for about two thirds of the trail. Chance to see a lot of wildlife and make sure to have bug spray during the summer.
