Gilleland Creek Trail

Skating was so-so

June, 2020 by christinanisse

There were portions of this trail that were really enjoyable on to skate. Some areas had large smooth concrete slabs allowing for some decent striding. However, there were a few portions that had smaller slabs with larger gaps that threatened to dislodge my fillings. The scenery was nice, especially near the trail head where the creek was visible. We went on a Sunday evening and it took about an hour and a half to skate. We saw a park where neighboring chickens were hanging out on the playground. The traffic was mainly pedestrian with some bicycle and a couple other skaters.

...Great walking trail

June, 2020 by mtstmichel52

After relocation to Belton TX from OR, I am thrilled to have an outdoor area such as this to walk our fur-babies and enjoy the sound of the running creek waters...nothing can take the beauty away from OR, but this rural area and Belton in itself was a great place to relocate....the one thing I would like to see is less canine waste...I always carry 3-4 empty bags with me..but I will not pick-up other animals waste....it is not that big of a deal to respect others walking or biking areas...just saying...not sure if horses are allowed on trail, but this past weekend there was a significant amount of horse waste along the paths...maybe a reminder to the public would be helpful.

This sidewalk trail is well built but it goes nowhere it dead ends on the east side into a field and on the west side dumps you into mass construction. In a few years I think it will connect

Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail

great trail that is a solid distance.

December, 2019 by texas0341

My son and I (14 yr old) went to ride this trail. One of the things I love most about it, is that its a huge loop. So you park and start to ride and 14.5 miles later your back where you started. There are ways to shorten the ride if you don’t want to go the distance but I personally feel the distance is perfect. The scenery is amazing as the entire ride circles lady bird lake. There is some fun down hill portions to gain some speed and some good climbs to feel the burn in your legs but overall it’s a pretty straight forward trail that isn’t technical at all. I did have to check the map a few time to make sure I was staying on the right path but it wasn’t hard at all to navigate. Highly recommend!

Shoal Creek Trail

Nice walk by the water

November, 2019 by lettieprell

This is a great city trail, that passes through Pease Park, where the trail braids, enabling one to cross back and forth in several places over the river, either on rocks or by bridge. Depending on the route you choose portions of the trail are dirt, gravel or concrete. We came out on a Sunday morning, and found bikes, people and dogs all enjoying the tree-lined space.

Easy 1.5 mile trail about 10 feeet wide and paved.

Will frequent it for sure.

Nice bike ride into town

October, 2019 by trukas2013

We usually ride this trail from the campground/dam into town. It's a nice trail that crosses the San Gabriel River several times. The trail is shaded where you ride along the river. You have to ride through a neighborhood for a small part, but it's not hard to figure out where to go. Coming back, the ride up the dam is the hardest part of the trail, but it's doable.
In October of 2018 the bridge crossing the river into town was damaged due to flooding. Not sure if and when it has been repaired.
