Wonderful short out and back smooth path. Perfect trail trail to ride with small children.
Absolutely loved this trail. I dumped in by the zoo and road up to the college. I had a blast. Will be back to ride again soon.
I absolutely love the trail. Mile by mile it is an escape from my busy life. I enjoy spotting birds, including large birds like owls, herons and hawks. Watching turtles on crowded logs while the otters swim and play. And if you like snakes watch closely and you will occasionally find them sunning alongside the trail. I’ve invested in rain gear just so I can see the forest come to life with small streams and waterfalls leading to the busy creeks and feeding the river. And so much more to see!
We rented bikes at Reedy Rides and bikes the Swamp Rabbit Trail! Beautiful scenery !
Very flat and well maintained. Some large sections undergoing some renovations. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel—trail starts right behind hotel. Great weekend trip.
There is parking plenty at both the Easley and the Pickens endpoints. We rode bikes from Pickens to Easley, stopped for some ice cream, and then turned around. Logged 16 total miles. It's rolling for a rail trail, not completely flat. You learn to enjoy the downhills and coast, because you will work out on the uphills! The train cars at both ends are neat to see. This trail needs some economic development at both ends! The ice cream was from a QuickiMart kind of place. How wonderful if a real ice cream shop opened! Or maybe a winery or a brewery.... my mind goes wild!
We parked at traveler's rest and roller-skated all the way to Greenville. Lots of small declines and slight hills. Some sections closed for maintenance but there was a detour that was not really well maintained. Nevertheless, there were some cool sights. Old train cars, old buildings, swamps, new houses, Furman University, and etc. Nice trail if biking or walking to see nature.
Awesome old rail bed trail!
Intersection of Rice Road and West Arial St . Next to Arial Plant.
With few easy road crossing- the trail takes one past some beautiful old architecture buildings Easy parking and not very crowded. Walking on this trail is more fulfilling then biking.
Are they road side parking along the trail ? With special needs I can only walk - so I did 1.5 miles from endpoints. I want to do some midsection too.
The Doodle is a beautiful, versatile trail. Challenging hills, sweet slopes to glide down and beautiful vistas make for a pleasant eight mile ride. Sixteen total miles will give you the good cardio workout you are looking for without unpleasant broken pavement.
