Reasonably good road bike and mountain bike route connecting excellent trail segments out of Paris and thru Blossom. Asphalt a little worn but has been maintained recently along with some brush clearing. Shady and quiet.
I had high hopes when the Hwy was widened as it included some funding to upgrade the old railroad track bed into a bike trail. I was incredibly disappointed. I don't know if the highway construction ran out of money or it was poorly designed but it fell way short of expectations. The surface itself was ok. Perfect for off-road, gravel grinding but the main disappointment was the destruction of the trees that separated the highway from the trail. It lost any real semblance of a trail and I can not recommend it. The good news is It looks like the trail west of Avery heading towards Clarksville is nearing completion and it has the appearance of being much better, although I haven't ridden on it. I have driven by it several times.
This trail is excellent for families! Great path for walking, riding, or roller blading!
This is an easy ride from Paris to Blossom where it turns wild. Easy grade, wide, scenic, mostly sheltered path and little traffic. Suitable for any bike up to that point.
The trail is not quite 3 miles, one way. It's perfect for biking, walking, running, rollerblading, etc. They have a bathroom at one of the trailheads (Fairmont St Trailhead). Its awesomely shaded in a lot of areas and it's got gorgeous scenery. You will see deer along the trail sometimes and lightning bugs right as the sun is going down. I rollerblade and bike ride on this trail everyday and LOVE it. It's awesome that Longview has this. There are also 2 dog parks, both right off the Loop Entrance.
We ride our 4 wheeler on this trail, not really appropriate for a bike with all the mud and shrubbery growing up on the trail from DeKalb Texas to avery Texas...i like it for 4 wheeling 😉
This trail very nice! Do friendly with dog parks, like it and will be back.
The trail is not well kept. I brought my street bike only to dodge holes in the asphalt and then 1 mile in have to turn around because of the gravel that is on the rest of the trail
The trail through DeKalb isn't very pleasant but just west of the local sawmill at CR3215 the trail turns into a nice rustic path. It's not gravel and I've only mountain/trail biked down it. And only 4 miles. But I've totally enjoyed it. I go down 2-3 times a week.
Needs major repair and better intersections
