Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail

Nuts and ruts and butts!

September, 2018 by aparrott58

Beautiful scenery. Easy trail grade overall. Saw some very large sycamore trees. Saw soft shell turtles, frogs and box turtles on the trail and great blue herons at the waters edge. Only drawbacks: 5 of the six bridge approaches were hernia busters, some at least 3-4 inches high; no mileage signs at all, no maps at the TH, no maps on the kiosks either (like to take a photo of map to use as guide), no real TH at Lock A either. Still a good trail despite the roots and washouts and the frequent and large black walnut husks and osage oranges. Hitting those items at speed could cause a wreck. I think I knocked the box turtle with my bike. I hope the fella pulls through. Hard to see him with all the leaf litter, branches, dirt and rocks on the trail.

Cumberland River Greenway

Ugly

August, 2018 by tweakhound

I don't get the 5 star reviews or the trail description. Rode from behind Titans stadium to trail end. It is 14.26 miles round trip. After you clear the Riverfront area full of trash and homeless, the first half of the trail is past warehouses, and cement factories. You can't see the river at all. When you clear that you still have warehouses on the land side and the view in this section of the river ain't much. No water and one porta-potie that I assume is associated with the golf course.

Nice ride along the Cumberland River, but you’d never know it. While grass around the trail was well maintained, undergrowth from trail to river blocks over 90% of water view. Otherwise, loved the experience.

Richland Creek Greenway

As Henry David Thureau once said - A walk a day keeps the Doc away!

May, 2018 by pink_tl

To take my mind of the chaos of the world we live in, I walk the Richland Creek Greenway each and every afternoon. The scenic creek crossings and the meandering trails can put even the most-troubled minds at ease. The wide paths allow bikers, runners, walkers, dogs, children, and strollers to easily maneuver.

Peeler Park Greenway

The trail really never have anyone there, so far this year I've seen more snakes than people and some were nice length. Nice park hate to see it go to waste

Peeler park

April, 2018 by annab4654

Walk 2 or 3 times a week for years recently had a fall or the trail resulting in broken wrist, walking again and doing fine I love peeler park, very close to my home it's clean and I encourage everybody to own this space and pick up trash if necessary I just wonder if anything can be done about the lowlying areas that stay moist all the time , moss and algae are very slick and dangerous
A lot of older folks walk there and we want them including myself to be safe. Would love a response. Thanks for our wonderfful greenway Bridgette wakefield

Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail

Great trail

December, 2017 by thairq

Love this trail. Several area with creek that is great for summer with pouch. They will walk a mile or so and get a cold dip. Also most of the trail is very shady. Cuts down on the summer heat about 10 degree.

Shelby Bottoms Greenway

One of the best in Nashville

December, 2017 by thairq

Very clean. Paved with ' wilderness' off shoots out you want more secluded trails with lots of shade. Good for hit summer as there are several water station at end of trail and a couple off creeks where dogs can take a dip to cool off.
Just wish more people would clean up after their pets. Probably better clean up effort of they put a couple more trash cans.

Stones River Greenway

Stones River Greenway is one of the best bike trails in Tennessee

November, 2017 by huxtablewp

I have been riding this paved trail once or twice a year for the past 15 years. It is generally flat to gently rolling but has a couple of short but hard hills that you may opt to walk your bike up. The Stones River Greenway starts at Percy Priest Dam. This river has a rich history including an unsuccessful land grab plot by Aaron Burr and earlier an indian massacre. It is a beautiful ride along the river and a wonderful bike bridge across the Cumberland River. If you get to the bridge at the right time, stop, you will see the largest Riverboat in the country, the 300 ft General Jackson, glide beneath the bike bridge. On the days when it is running in November and December, the boat should be there around 12:20 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. The bridge takes you to a large marshy area called Metcalf Bottoms which is very flat but there are many paved trails and a bike path that can take you all the way to downtown Nashville and beyond for a few miles. My wife and I usually eat some crab at Joes Crab Shack in downtown Nashville. It isn't a fancy restaurant but the crab is very good and so is the service! the Crab Shack even let us bring a bike inside.

We are visiting the Nashville area from Iowa & I wanted to get in a short ride. Very nice trail. Well maintained. Good trail markers. Love the Cumberland river section. The sheep added to the experience. Nice to see barges navigating the river.

White House Greenway

Nice ups and downs

October, 2017 by markmoore006

Can I give it 10 Stars? My Wife and I were out visiting different Greenways and today was our first time riding this one. We Loved it! Nice creeks along the way and there is not much flat at all. Some really nice ups to get your lungs and legs feeling it and some fun downs so make sure your breaks are not too worn out. Nothing at all boring about this path. We will be back to this one for sure!

Brookmeade Greenway

Could be great...

September, 2017 by brian.kell

There are shopping carts everywhere and a homeless community in the back. You can not walk to the back without being bothered. I called Parks and recreation and they said "we know." Not that anything is being done about it. Someone please do something!
