Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway

Good Rail Trail

September, 2020 by plank555

It is well-maintained, well-marked, and not too busy. The last part is a bit tricky to get to the Lost Creek Park picnic and swimming area (take the road to the left from the end of the trail). Not a ton of trees but they are growing back and in a few year should begin to give decent shade.

John Barfield Trail

Nice easy trail

Seldom crowded. Easy to walk and bike. Some shade. A few forks you can take to get to cotton belt or cross through a neighborhood to get to Timbercreek park.

Moments-in-Time Hike & Bike Trail

Sunny

Best to do with a bike and on a cloudy or cool day, not much shade but the concrete helps to stay on the trail. Overall not horrible trail

Moments-in-Time Hike & Bike Trail

weaves through granbury

August, 2020 by sethandkim

Great easy trail for running, walking, or biking. Weaves through 4 parks, over water and along the lake, and near the square for easy access to wander downtown to grab lunch, a drink or souvenirs. Our favorite part is the boardwalk behind the hotel and convention center that over looks the lake and also the boardwalk on the beach!

C. Shane Wilbanks Trail

Dog Friendly

Enjoyed walking this trail this morning except the bikers come flying by you without any warning. The trees over hang the path in some areas which was nice but limits your visibility to see the lake.

Cotton Belt Trail

I find this to be a very wonderful Trail its not overly crowded, however, as some other reviews have suggested that this could be dangerous as people try to cross busy intersection

A-train Rail Trail

Ridden Parts for Several Years

August, 2020 by c92vette

I have ridden this trail when in the area for several years now. Covered all of the trail that is now complete. It's a rather flat trail not in any wooded areas to speak of. The only part of the trail where a cyclist can gather some speed is where it crosses Lake Lewisville. That's about a mile and a half run but right alongside I-35. Actually the trail took over some of the shoulder of the Stemmons Freeway. The southern part as divided by the lake is difficult to navigate until you learn where the trail leads. There are busy intersections especially around Hwy 121 and the baseball fields south of there. For the northern part there a a lot of rail track crossings and depot passage including gates at one depot. At certain times pedestrians who are accessing the transit may interfere with safe passage while cycling through the depot areas. There are several switchback gates along the full length where I have to unclip and tip toe my bike through. With other areas along the route it is best to leave the trail and ride in the street as the trail is too narrow and has sharp turns. A plus for the ride is on the south side of the lake. A short side street ride on Oakridge Blvd. will take you right down to Lakeside Park for a 4 mile or so loop. Also a short ride from the trail at the Highland Village Station up to Tower Bay Park joins a nice loop around Copperas Point. Other than those two points this trail is pretty average as far as trails go.
