Panhandle Trail

panhandle trail

May, 2018 by brodylittle

The only highlights on this trail from Rennerdale to Oakdale were some of the different bird species that we saw. There were no amenities, nor were there cute little picnic stops along the stream. The Helicon Brewing company should have consulted an architect and the Robinson run was completely rust colored. I was disappointed to say the least. The only other highlight of the day were the surprisingly good pretzel sticks at the Rennerdale Corner Store.

Great Guernsey Trail

Peaceful Ride

Very nice trail with view of wetlands. The trail is shady and scenic. Anyone who enjoys trees and nature will love this trail. Seven miles and back make a fourteen mile ride. One that is not too short or too long.

Wellsburg Yankee Trail

My husband and I came to bike this trail. I believe it would be a better walking trail. It would be great if we lived around this area. It was awkward to bike because we were constantly crossing streets or riding on the road. However, it was a nice little area.

West Fork River Trail

Great time on this trail

April, 2018 by angelaromero730

Had a great time. Went from Shinnston to almost Monongah. Very beautiful and pretty easy ride. There is 2 parking lots at the beginning of the trail in Shinnston. There is a sign where you turn in to them.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

A Surprisingly Shaded Trail in the Midst of Farm Country

February, 2018 by orangedoug

I rode the Little Beaver Creek Greenway in June of 2017. The trail is located in Columbiana County which is southwest of Youngstown, Ohio. It runs between Lisbon, Ohio and a little town called Washingtonville, Ohio. The trail is 12.5 miles long from end to end. It is a trail that is a part of the larger Great Ohio Lake to River Greenway a planned route that will run from Lake Erie in Ashtabula, Ohio to the Ohio River in East Liverpool, Ohio. On the northern end of the current trail a gap between Washingtonville and The Mill Creek Metroparks Bikeway south of Canfield, OH must be filled. On the southern end there is currently nothing beyond Lisbon toward East Liverpool.

What I found surprising about this trail was the amount of tree cover there was on the southern end of the trail between Lisbon and Leetonia. As you drive to the trailheads on either end of this trail you'll pass through farm country and plenty of wide open fields. I expected to be lathering up with the sunscreen to protect my fair skin. I put in the sunscreen but I really probably didn't need it until reaching Leetonia. From Leetonia north the trail is more exposed to the sun.

Great Allegheny Passage

Allegheny/ CO Labor Day

December, 2017 by mmblhb

I rode the GAP /CO this past Labor Day weekend- best bike trip ever. 120 miles from Pittsburgh to Meyersdale (120 miles). Almost flat- never any sense of climbing, smooth trail on a road bike with 32mm tires and fenders. The ride from Meyersdale to Cumberland was easy- downhill the last 30 miles or so. Thanks to all the groups that put the trail together- what an asset to the region.

Panhandle Trail

amazing trail around 20 miles of continueus pavement

November, 2017 by juliettoscarhotelnovember

this trails amazing, i saw someone complain that they didn't like the new pavement. i can't understand why. it's flawless it's fast it dries fast, idk i love it, it connects to the Montour trail which is crushed limestone the whole way if u really hate pavement. i hate riding roads around here, it's literally a death wish and i don't even like sharing the roads with bikes when I'm driving. this trail is like riding a road with out any cars to worry about.

Great Allegheny Passage

Can't wait to do this again!

October, 2017 by aeboe

Rented bikes from Cumberland Connection (they were AWESOME!). We didn't get on the trail till 4:30 and made it to Gunter Hotel in Frostburg by sunset at 6:29. It is a lot of uphill walking from the trail to downtown Frostburg. Ask for room with new beds at Gunter and make sure and go to the mens bathroom to see the 'jail cell'. Ate at Shift which was amazing! We were on the trail by 8:40am, lunch at Rockwood (Rockwood Mills-the dessert were amazing!) by 12:30 and made it to Confluence by 3:30 for our shuttle pick up . We stopped many, many times for pictures! I hardly wanted to blink because this was such an amazing, beautiful experience!

Had a picnic lunch at old train station in Lisbon. Then biked 5 miles along trail and back. Lovely, well-maintained trail.

West Fork River Trail

Lovely trail

October, 2017 by smk

We biked this in early October. Parked in Monongah at the lot next to City Hall. The trail is nicely paved except for less than three miles at the southern end in Shinnston. DO NOT try to park at the Mary Lou Retton park shown at the North end of the map. The loop shown on the map is a rural residential area with very narrow roads and you have to go down a short, steep dirt hill to get to the real trail. I've uploaded pictures of the trail's sign, which shows several parking areas along the trail.

Update to my last review

October, 2017 by fish_boat

There is a porta-john at the start of the trail just before you get to Donna's Bike Shop. Then another just after the two mile mark and a parking lot. Then one at Franklin Square at 8.5 miles from Lisbon. Also has a parking lot. Then another one at the 10 mile mark with a parking lot. Also has a Gazebo if you want to rest and have a snack. Then if you continue thru Leetonia the trail goes another 2.5 miles. Once you get back on the trail past Leetonia about a mile or so there is another porta-john and a parking lot. They recently made a path from there to walk up to the coke ovens. At the end is another Gazebo and porta-john. On the way back if you are hungry you can stop at Dairy Queen just a short distance from the trail in Leetonia. Hope this helped anyone that rides this great trail. Any questions about the trail feel free to ask me.

Great Allegheny Passage

serene and calm

October, 2017 by bicycle67

Great trail for multi-day ride with motels or camping, or single day rides. I had to find parking locations in order to ride several days, with Round trip rides of 40-60 miles/day (20-30 each way). A few confusing spots and a couple steep spots. Quite confusing in Pittsburgh, where markings are absent, and trail goes through the city streets, but lovely to arrive at Point State Park fountain. Cedar Creek Park especially lovely area, with camping (but gates lock at sundown so don't park late). Great long ride down gentle hill from Deal, MD (highest point on trail) to Cumberland. Long uphill ride back up 26 miles from Cumberland back to Deal. Beautiful trail.
