The Salem Road Bike Path is an asphalt sidepath trail that runs along Salem Road and West Frontage Road in a pretty, suburban section of southern Rochester. The pathway picks up where the West Circle Drive Bike Path leaves off from the north, allowing cyclists and pedestrians to travel through the wooded edge of a residential community, coming to an end at a narrower sidewalk along the highway frontage road, a short journey from where the South Frontage Bike Path begins.
The path may not have the most natural feel to it, given the adjacent roads, but the woods to the north help provide a semblance of seclusion, and the trail serves as an important connector in the area trail network, providing a link to the sprawling Zumbro South Trail at Bamber Valley Road - a perfect option for those looking for a more traditional trail experience.
Parking is available near the junction with the Zumbro South Trail at the John Withers Sports Complex, located on Mayowood Road just west of 18th Avenue SW.
