A couple friends and I tackled this trail on an 80 degree day in May! The weather was perfect! Trail wasn’t overly crowded and it was such a great ride! Clean, smooth pavement made for an enjoyable ride.
Did the entire length in October 2013 and are planning to go again soon.
With multiple, lengthy trail closures (some pushing you onto very busy roads) skip the loop trail until after October 2023 when the trails are hopefully open again.
Flooded just below Simpson Park on segment two. March 7th we are expecting rain the next 2 days so plan your route accordingly
The trail could be wider at times it narrows to a sidewalk. Walking next to the water is a nice feel of nature in the city.
While the Boschert Greenway is a nice connection between the area parks, the asphalt is cracked and bumpy in several areas. I would rate it as a strong 3 stars, but not quite 4 stars. I’m hoping after the area’s construction projects are completed, the Greenway will be smoothed out. The newer paved section that runs parallel to the interstate has an incline and the is a long winding hill going into Fox Hill Park. The remaining parts of the trail are mostly flat. There are also a few benches along the trail.
My first time on this trail. The leaves are changing and the view is spectacular!
We took the week and rode the whole thing. So much fun and very rewarding. There are a few places with ruts from rain and wear on the trail but plenty of crews out doing improvements and they are fairly well marked. Can’t wait to do it again.
We started south of Fenton. It took us 2 tried. We got to the northern terminus and dangerous stop sign. We rode back 11 miles. Trail all broken up and poorly marked both directions. Trail was paved and it pretty good shape
I rode from Frontier park in St Charles to Defiance and back and thoroughly enjoyed the Katy trail. The trail was well maintained overall with a few spots of looser gravel around construction near St Charles. The rest of the trail was hard packed and a great surface for riding. Had lunch at the Defiance Ridge Winery not far off the trail. There is a sign on the trail pointing you in the right direction. They had great food with lots of variety. Enjoyed the peacefulness of the trail and the glimpses of the Missouri River. There were quite a few people out on the trail on a Friday morning and early afternoon.
Totally agree with last review. The trail from River De Pes to Kirkwood tail head is only 10 miles.
