April 2025 Review

April, 2025 by alisonstarr.org

Perhaps the negative reviews were also about things not being completed but at least for me. I really enjoyed this trail. Apart from having to stop at crossroads where there is a lot of traffic it is smooth, very cynic from current to a little past Lake Louisville. I used to riding in Dallas from Oakcliff to the Trinity river, so this is very enjoyable.

A-train Rail Trail

especially poor south half

May, 2023 by petdav_tl

Took my family out to ride and started at the southern point. The write up suggests scenic views but unless you count landfills, fences, fire hydrants and highway barricades as scenery, you will be disappointed. Signage is terribly lacking and in many places, so too is the trail cleanliness (broken glass, garbage, etc). I found it both funny and disheartening that the path goes directly in front of a parks and rec building.

Great trail ride

April, 2023 by gsauncog

Started at Lucy Park after riding our bikes 1/2 mile to the trail from Wichita Falls RV Park. Rode to Lake Wichita where bathroom and picnic shelter are, had a snack, and rode back, 31.5 miles. Wide concrete pavement. Used trail link to keep us on track. 2 or 3 road crossings on not very busy streets, otherwise all underpasses for a continuous ride.

Convenient access

March, 2023 by vc2019

We rode from Denton to Corinth round trip. Loved how easy it is to access the trail, parking close to the police station hoping on to the trail and when done, Denton has lots of good options for lunch. The only down side was the zig zag gates at some of the road crossings.

Great Trail for North TX

October, 2022 by bwgak5kk7u

I love this trail and use it a lot for solo rides. It’s a nice round trip ride from Lewisville to Denton. Yes you do have to cross some roads but I use it like interval training. I go hard in between crossing and take the time waiting on cars to catch my breath. Most people are pretty polite and let you cross once they notice you. It’s also great because of built in rest stops. It’s a QT right on the trail halfway. So if you want you can stop coming and going. I love the A Train trail. It’s a Great Trail for North TX.

Circle Trail not quite a circle

September, 2022 by bsnicholson63

We rode in Sept 2022. Started great and was a nice ride until Lake Wichita. Shortly thereafter the trail goes into a neighborhood and city streets. The easy to follow trail becomes a navigation exercise in Wichita Falls.

All in all it is a nice ride around the city but the circle is not complete and a local street map is required for the "non locals" who may be riding.

A-train Rail Trail

Completed it Up to Denton Station

September, 2022 by vhbb7hv2b5

With some of the previous posts the signage south of the lake can be a bit lacking. It is fairly easy to decide based on the trail compared to the the normal sidewalks.

The dodging of vehicles and trains weren't that bad it is definitely safer than riding on the side of the roadway.

Tried riding this trail today but the entrance at 380 was closed. Disappointed.

A-train Rail Trail

Obstacle Course

May, 2022 by skypilot1967_tl

I don’t ride on roads anymore just trails. After reading these reviews that were mostly negative I decided not attempt to even try this trail. Since there are cars and trains involved mixed in with this trail I decided not risk my life.

Love it!

April, 2022 by juancarlos.anez

My wife and me took this trail today to test our new gravel bikes and we love the mixture of terrain and the ambience that surrounds the route. It is very quiet and sometime you may feel in complete abstraction from the modern city. From 428 to 455 we took the equestrian trail and

Excellent trail for a day ride

March, 2022 by stvatandem

My wife and I started from Lucy Park and rode to the end at Lake Wichita (at Fairway Blvd), ate lunch, and then headed back. The trail was easy to follow and went under most streets. There were some hills, but nothing too long or steep. The condition of the concrete was very good. The weather was sunny, but the wind was stiff, especially on the dam. Overall, a very good day.

Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway

big tire bonanza

March, 2022 by c4prvb5zvn

Texas loves the crushed yellowish stone for its trails, doesn't compact real well and this trail suffers a bit from that malady. no skinny tires here so on to the thorns since many shrubs trees need to be cut back to not deposit their thorns to my tires! Overall a great ride on a not so hot day, bring water and enjoy the water views!
