Great trail for walking your dog, jogging, and biking. 3.6 miles from one end to the other. It is not a loop so you will need to turn around and retrace your steps to get back to the trailhead you parked at. There are 5 trailheads along the route to choose from. There is creek water for your dog to grab a drink from but most of it is along the middle part of the trail. All asphalt with 2 challenging hills, one in each direction of the trail. We live in White House and walk our dog here several times a week.
Beautiful trail along the Cumberland River. The trail is paved and gravel. It also links to the Cheatham Damn Park and Campground. This is an older trail and pavement is bumpy and gravel part can be rough. All and all, this is a great trail for cycling or hiking!
This is a great trail! It has access to the Warner Parks trails, lots of neighborhoods with bike lanes and low traffic. Study the local map and you can loop around and easily get in 20 - 30 miles.
The previous comment titled “Ugly” by Tweakhound back in Aug ‘08 is spot-on. My experience was exactly the same. Thoroughly unimpressed.
My husband and I chose this greenway ( Springfield) to try yesterday in celebration of our wedding anniversary ¿¿¿¿. We are new to Trail Link and this is our second trail. It was perfect ! Weather gorgeous doesn’t hurt .¿Some adorable dogs with their people walking and a couple of other cyclists but not crowded at all. Will go back!
We started at the dam and rode until the “end” which was beyond what the trail map showed (about 11 miles). The various trail signs said the trail name was “music city trail” which was somewhat confusing. Anyway the trail was all asphalt and smooth…very few bumps along the way! Great ride!
this path is awesome- it curves around a golf course, there are creeks you can play in, there’s pretty bridges. Great for anyone- kids, dogs, walkers, runners, cyclists. Loved this greenway! Doesn’t feel like you’re in Nashville- so much lush nature.
We parked across the street from the driving range and took a left onto the trail. We found the far East side of the trail quite disappointing. You walk alongside a busy road most of the time and when you think you’re finally heading down towards the woods, the path dead ends. Next time, we plan to go West towards Percy Warner where I am sure there is better scenery. Of note, the asphalt was in good condition and it was an easy place to walk with a stroller.
On the Fenton side of the Island, the west side, the paved part of the trail extends west from the Fenton TH over the bridge and ends at approximately 1.3 miles. From the Fenton Trail Head to the Sunset Trail Head is not paved. From Fenton to Sunset is not paved, 8.2 miles. From Sunset Trail Head headed east over the east bridge is approximately 3.3 miles. From that point, east is approximately 6 paved miles.
We hiked from the Fenton side to the Golden Pond Visitors Center, which is 4.2 miles, round trip 8.4 miles. We rode our bikes on the east and west paved sides but did not ride on the paved area on the east side of the east bridge that is on the north side of the highway.
We loved the hiking and biking on this trail. You can bike the unpaved trail, but you need to be skilled enough to do that. We are in our 70s and tried to bike the first mile on the west side headed east but turned back. We give this trail both paved and gravel a 5. It is a very good trail to hike. We cannot comment on the North-South Trail.
We estimate the total length of this trail with the approximate 6 miles on the east side to of the east bridge ar around 16 miles plus.
It was industrial but a nice ride with some good views and you can get lunch downtown if desired.
