Today has been a rail trail rail fan dream come true. I rode through the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania on the D&L rail trail. To top off the beauty of this area I also got to see up close the historic Union Pacific “Big Boy” 4014. She’s been traversing the country commemorating the 250 birthday of our nation. Needless to say I’ve had my bit of heaven on earth today.
Very pretty, flat trail. Suggest parking in the lot in Downingtown and following the trail then connecting to the Uwchlan Trail and back. Eagles nest was seen here-multiple photographers out taking photos. Nice memorial site at the beginning-nice place to sit and reflect with beautiful trees. Very pleasant trail.
Enjoyable paved trail along the creek with parking at either Pennington Park or Amico island . Fairly short on- road section which includes a segment over a bridge which is best attempted during low traffic times, but there is a walkway .
Rode the trail yesterday from the Tannery to Jim Thorpe. Saw 7 snakes. 4 young rattlesnakes.Lots of ppl with dogs and young kids riding ahead of them. Please keep an eye out. They were in the road and along the side trying to get warm.
We love this trail. Almost 13 miles round trip.
Easy to find once you arrive near the schools. It's a wonderful connector path for local residents to ride to the beautiful Smyrna school campus.
Mostly bike lanes along busy roads. The city is beautiful but I was disappointed that I could not find a trail along the water and lake. I even asked a State Trooper and they said that they were not aware of an actual trail.
I went down to Dover and followed the Google map and the trails map and could not find an actual trail. It appears that the trail is nothing but bike lanes on main roads. I asked a state trooper where the Jones River Trail was where there were signs pointing, and she had no idea what the Jones river was. Was very disappointed looking for the trails, but Dover is a beautiful town, especially in the legislative district.
I rode this trail for the first time today (April 24, 2026). Contrary to the current map the trail does extend from the Cynwyd Station to the Bala Station at City Avenue. The extension looks quite new.
Maybe before the spring the phone company Will remove the lines & large tree branch that's stretching across the path...
