We rode the trail came back by the Campground/Boat Marina road across the bridge and found another trail. It says it is 330 miles gravel road is saying bicycles and walking only we went out at About 5 miles and turned around. It was getting late very nice. We will have to go back and ride some more.
We started from the harbor freight parking lot and hit the trail there and made it all the way into Chattanooga. Nice trail! We were on electric scooters
I’ve been here three times over the summer to ride it with my kids. We have electric scooters. There are multiple parks and stops along the way to make a great day of riding and making memories! We love coming to Chattanooga from Birmingham to enjoy a day and have a mini vacation.
I have the great fortune to live a short :45 minute commute from this gem and ride it 3x on a good week. (Powder Springs to Rockmart & back) I’ve ridden other paths and will continue to try new ones (to me). That said, I’ve yet to find anything that comes close to this one in terms of distance, maintenance and natural beauty.
Really great trail. Also had trouble navigating and could have used more signs and directions. Tons of bathrooms!
Rode from Anniston Alabama, to piedmont, then to Alabama/Georgia line, and onward to cedartown, rock mart, Dallas and to the beginning of the trail near Symirna. This was done at different times from different trailheads, but was accomplished. Extremely beautiful and pleasing. Mostly flat, with gradual inclines and curves and only a few steep hills, east of Cedartown. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys biking, walking. Well maintained!
It's true: There are 2 very serious hills (10%?, 12%?) starting ~3.5 miles east of Cedartown. But I don't believe there are *any* others of note on the entire Silver Comet.
I rode the Powder springs to Hiram area on a Sunday. I parked at Dillard St. connector. A few parking spots available. That was an easy, pleasant ride. I also parked at the Rambo nursery TH, off highway 6. This was a good spot for ride across the Pumpkinvine Trestle bridge and the Brushy Mountain Tunnel. There were many massive boulders along this stretch which made for an unexpected, beautiful ride.
I also rode from Cedartown Train depot towards Rockmart and quickly encountered hills and big elevation changes. I rode only a few miles and returned to start. This was also a remote area once out of Cedartown, either direction. Check your sources for all elevation changes along trail.
I rode the Chief Ladiga Trail in early March. It was a beautiful day. I started at the Eubanks Welcome Center and parked there. I rode to just inside the “Welcome to Anniston” sign. I pedaled about the campus in Jacksonville, then returned to start. Enjoyed the ride and bought a Ladiga T-shirt from the welcome center ladies. I met some friendly local ladies and a fellow biker along the way.
Wonderful trail. Not real busy. Enjoyed the birds and frog sounds along the walk. Very relaxing.
We were looking forward to this ride a long time as reviews rate it highly. For us it was quite the opposite. The trail did have its moments and from the start looked very promising, however those moments were short and far in between. The first of the issues were the trail closures with no notice at trail heads or reroutes. You merely run into a blockage where your only option is to turn around load up your bikes, go a couple of miles to the next bike parking, unload, ride a couple of miles and hit another trail block. Second issue, the trail is poorly marked. We literally spent more time trying to find our way through Chattanooga than riding our bikes. Trail Link helped but what a mess. I can’t imagine riding this trail in peak season as it was, our ride early Feb, 50 deg late morning saw many pedestrian obstacles. Chattanooga is a busy place, a nice city to be sure along with that comes constant traffic noise.
