Rode about 8 miles of the trail near the west end. It more than lived up to my expectations from reviews and youtube vids. Easy to access from our hotel at the Marriott Courtyard. Way better than any trail we have back home in Wichita.
9/6/24 Tried trail starting at Clark Henry Park and got about 4 miles in down and the bayou trial is washed out and construction blocks any possible way through. Rode back to the Clark Henry park and drove to park across the street from 6999 Alabonson Rd. Got 1.5 miles into ride and after several sections of trail was missing, the entire trail was missing for a longer stretch than I could see. It rained last night and the trail was muddy and impossible to ride. Had to walk some of the way back because of the mud.
Not much to look at if that is your thing.
If you start this trail at the Milby Park trailhead, it will continue, unbroken for more than 20miles one way. The current map is outdated and incomplete. The trail is great, always with a breeze as it runs along the bayou with gentle slopes sing lots of flora and fauna along the way. The only confusion is where you must cross over into the other side before Scott St.
Egret Bay has the best section, 96 (League City Parkway) will soon have more bike paths. Hopefully more to come!
It’s a nice ride but I hate that ppl can’t respect the little nature we have in Houston. It’s has a lower income area around it in some places and it just seems with that ppl don’t respect what little they have.
Started at the trail head off 69 and went as far construction and returned. A good 30+ miles. Surface was smooth and not too much elevation. A really nice ride through the woods with nice views of the river.
Totally worth the ride! Scenic, challenging, and peaceful! Absolutely love it!
While biking near the spillway, saw a Limpkin with White Ibises. Nice area. Wish it connected to George Bush Park trails.
The trail now extends to Jersey Village. There are still a few short sections that have not been completed.
Beautiful views and access to cool spots at Heights and M-K-T including bars, restaurants, shops, crepe shops, parks, ice cream shops, ebike shop, lots of amazing scenic artwork easter eggs (behind Aztec Events & Tents ¿) if you pay close attention to the secret openings! Cyclists receive 10% discounts at some spots like Highline Park Bar and Juice Land. There's even a bike path to H-E-B and other spots shopping spots along Shepherd. Lots to do around this area
