Three Eagle Trail

Favorite Trail in the Area

August, 2020 by csyke_tl

We love the section that starts south of Eagle River a few miles off Sundstein Road at the gravel trailhead. It goes for 5 amazing miles through some beautiful wetlands and forests and then pops out on a busier road on the 3 Lakes side. This is usually where we turn around (5 miles out and back is enough for my 5th grade daughter).

River Bend Trail (WI)

Great river views. Easy blacktop path. I enjoyed the historical facts along the trail.

This is a fun trail for all ages! Convenient location in downtown Minocqua. Lots of water views, the trail is well maintained and mostly flat surface.

Howard to Shawano

July, 2020 by ucrubr

67 miles round trip. Brown county stretch is very well maintained. Shawano not as nice. Two trees were down blocking the trail. A stretch is so overgrown and muddy I was nervous I wouldn’t make it through and get eaten alive by deerflys. Once in Shawano it turns nice again. There is a portion that is closed right before Bonduel but it takes the road for a mile or two and is well marked. Not very traveled on most of the trail. Between the cities. I liked it though. Enough shade and low winds. Want to take the Shawano to Wausau stretch next.

Trail is very well maintained. The short stretch on a low traveled road is the most challenging part due to the steeper hills. The rest of the trail has gentle hills.

Bearskin State Trail

Bearskin trail review June 28 2020

July, 2020 by terri.hagmann

Started in Minocqua and biked south to the trailhead at the Cty L/Cty N junction. The trail was beautiful and well maintained with several bridges crossing Bearskin Creek & other streams. Looking out away from the trail were outstanding views of the WI north woods. Lots of deer, birds, a turtle & frogs.
The trail needs to be better marked after you begin riding the road section. There was no sign on Hwy L directing a biker to turn off onto a different road to continue riding other roads towards the gravel trail section again. There should be a sign visible on Hwy L telling bikers to turn, not a sign on the road that we should have turned onto to correctly follow that road. We ended up following Hwy L for far too long on that busier road to Lake Nokomis, where we rediscovered the gravel trail again.
However, the Windmill ice scream shop @ Lake Nokomis is outstanding!! :)

Green Circle Trail

beautiful area

June, 2020 by ucrubr

Completed the entire 25 miles today. It was beautiful. First thought was it’s narrow and curvy on a lot of the trail. I biked it so I went slower than usual not knowing what lay ahead. Lots of road between the trails. Watch very carefully for the green circle signs tho. Many trails split off I had to backtrack twice. I enjoyed it and the scenery for the most part was beautiful.

Don’t Go On The Snowmobile Trail

June, 2020 by lury.arrozpegao

Make sure to follow the Bike signs. Going North from Tomahawk, the trail makes a hard right onto a paved road. It’s easy to keep going straight onto the snowmobile trail which is private property.

Wolf River State Trail

Lily to Hollister

June, 2020 by blwalsh84

Rode with hybrid bikes and did fine. No sign of ATV use on this portion now. Could be in a little better shape, but it is pretty and remote, and the sounds of the rapids from the Wolf river was a happy bonus. The trees down in the woods from the tornado in 2019 was devastating.

Pleasantly surprised! One of the best scenic trails we’ve traveled on. A tad bumpy in spots but overall easy to travel for a gravel trail.
