Cannon Valley Trail

Expensive trail

April, 2024 by hristo.yankov

$30 season pass or a $7 daily, with a "non-cash surcharge" if you try to pay online. The trail is nice, but the fee is getting out of hand.

Cannon Valley Trail

Good Trail

October, 2023 by kackman_11

My first time on this trail was today. Started seeing some nice fall colors on the trees. Beautiful scenic ride with cliffs, hills and valley. The overall trail was really nice. Nicely kept up and very smooth to ride on. Only down fall was that it was too narrow. Could use about another foot on each side

Gandy Dancer Trail (Southern Section)

Quality of the trail bed was substandard in 2021

September, 2023 by bskov

This was a pretty rough trail when we rode it on our recumbent trikes. It seemed designed for snowmobiles and walkers. I hope it has been graded better. I would not ride it again in the condition it was in. Particularly with so many better trails not far way by Stillwater, MN.

Cannon Valley Trail

Great Trail!!!

August, 2023 by plyman38

My first time on the trail was on 8/13. As soon as I got into the trees, I was met by two turkeys on the trail then a few miles further on, two deer ran across the trail, smooth going all the way. About halfway through the trail, I saw people on inner tubes floating down the river, having a great time. Made it all the way to the end and a mile towards Redwing. On the way back I jumped 6 more deer. A gorgeous trail that’s well-kept. Nice bathrooms and rest areas. I live in Brooklyn Park and it was well worth the drive. I’ll do it again, especially in the fall.

My sister and I loved this trail. All black top. And a very cute town to explore

St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail

Fun ride - big climb

July, 2023 by jarad.jackson

This is a really fun trail to ride as it goes along the river much of the time and also behind downtown Stillwater. A bike trail is the perfect use for the old lift bridge and it’s an enjoyable crossing. It is a very long hill to ride up to Houlton, WI. The Wisconsin portion has a rest stop along the bike trail and the new bridge is downhill and a very fast decent back to Minnesota.

Brown's Creek State Trail (Willard Munger State Trail)

Bladers, be careful!

July, 2023 by alxs1205

This is a gorgeous trail to blade and I loved (almost) all of it! Because we have had a few pretty decent storms this summer, there are more twigs/sticks than I anticipated in some places. It made skating somewhat dangerous - especially when picking up speed on the way back toward Stillwater. Bladers and ski skaters, be very careful.

Cannon Valley Trail

I can’t believe that people don’t see where their $5 goes! The trail is well-marked and there are excellent rest stops along the way. We went from Cannon Falls trailhead all the way to Red Wing for lunch and then rode back for a total of 42 miles. Not sure why people would say it’s bumpy or boring, ha! It’s gorgeous. Lots of wildlife, and following the river makes it far from boring. Many lovely places to stop for a drink of water and a rest. If someone didn’t want to go so far, they would enjoy the segment from Cannon Falls to Welsh. This trail is verrrrrry flat! Fun fun fun.

Buffalo River State Trail

Not for biking

July, 2023 by rbeeley

Glad I didn't go out of my way to check this trail out. Consists of loose dirt, very little gravel. Cannot effectively ride any kind of bike on this trail. Don't waste your time unless you have an ATV.

Brown's Creek State Trail (Willard Munger State Trail)

great trail!!

12 miles up and back. First half is uphill but is very gradual and makes coming back down a fast easy ride. In-line skating this trail was amazing!!

Stower Seven Lakes State Trail

Crushed stone trail was nice for gravel bikes

June, 2023 by bethredeker1

We went on this trail for about 7 miles one way and back. There are a couple of places you can stop to use the restroom. It does require a trail use fee of $5 per bicycle. Walking it is free. The trail is crushed stone and easy to bike on with a gravel bike. Not for a road bike obviously but other bikes should be fine on it.

Cattail State Trail

Bad for mountain bikes, good for hiking or ATV

June, 2023 by bethredeker1

We went on this trail for biking. It was very difficult to maneuver due to the looser gravel. It seems it would be fine for walking or UTV/ATV but other than that, we had a hard time with our bikes. We have hybrid and mountain bikes. We ended up getting off of the path and going onto the roads because it was just too loose of gravel. There was also a point we went through a bridge and it was all water and muck so walking would be difficult in that area. Beautiful scenery on the path, but we couldn’t appreciate it because our eyes had to be glued to the path.
