Tomahawk Creek Trail

nice ride

Didn’t take the fork going towards blue valley north high school, but trail is pretty and winds along the creek and a golf course. Great ride

Little Blue Trace Trail

Beautiful, but not for road bikes

May, 2021 by mundobonito1

I was visiting family and rode this trail today for the first time and thought it was beautiful. It winds alongside the Little Blue River and the scenery is lovely. The trail itself is well maintained and seems safe. The only problem is that it is definitely not for a road bike, which I have. The trail goes from concrete to crushed stone to concrete to gravel. You come across patches of concrete and think, great, then it goes right onto crushed stone and continues that pattern throughout . I started at the Phelps road trailhead which has ample parking and a port-a-potty and rode north/east (which is really the only direction you can go since if you go the other direction, the trail ends in about a quarter of a mile). Most of this portion of the trail is concrete/crushed stone until you get north of Menards. It then turns into fairly coarse gravel and I had to turn around. I was disappointed as I really wanted to continue since it was so pretty. If you have a hybrid or mountain bike, you will love it. Maybe in the future they will make it more road bike friendly!

KATY Trail

April, 2021 by jdfcsc

In the fall of 2011 I rode this trail on loaded bike from St Louis to Clinton on my cross country trip from SC to Phoenix, AZ. Yesterday on auto trip east from Phoenix I stopped in Boonville, got a room at Hotel Frederick, right on the trail in Boonville. I rode my E-trike, a Hase Kettwiesel, 25 miles out and back toward Sedalia mid afternoon. The next morning before checking out I rode another 20 miles out and back toward St.Louis.Later in the day I Stopp again to ride from Augusta to Dutzow. The Katy trail is in great shape.miles out and back

Flint Hills Trail State Park

ride from Council Grove

Took a break from crossing Kansas to ride a portion of Flint Hills trail. I road east for about 12 miles, then back. A good ride despite rather blustery weather on Apr. 21, 2021.

Little Blue Trace Trail

short but sweet

Five star trail, but 3 star for inlines because it turns to gravel on both ends, pretty quickly. Had a good time though!

Smooth, wide trail for walkers and bikers. Weaves through forest and open fields. Some hills. Beautiful fields of flowers in summer and fall. Can be busy at peak times

Prairie Spirit Trail State Park

Section to Humboldt is completed with excellent trail side park constructed that has tiny housing, camping, indoor center for cyclists

Spirit Trail

This path does not have trash cans or resting areas. You have to cross many busy roads. The route is next to DD hwy. Its not scenic. I do like that it is paved. I also like that there is parking at the start of the trail.

Flint Hills Trail State Park

Love This Trail

January, 2021 by clengquist

I have ridden this entire trail all at once and many times in pieces. The trail west of Bushong may be some of the most beautiful scenery I've experienced on any trail, ever.

The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that I think a few more amenities would be great. More water, maybe a small shelter or two like you find on the George Mickelson trail in SD or even the Chief Standing Bear Trail in NE. I suspect those will come.

Thank you to all the volunteers that keep this trail in such good repair in the variant Kansas climate. It's a great ride. Make sure, however, you have water, sunscreen and whatever you need because it can be desolate... which is the best part of the trail.
