Campion Trail

Amazing trail

July, 2018 by maybenitez1

My husband and I love this trail, today I had a scare while walking the trail. We came face to face with 3 lynx or maybe Bobcats. Very amazing sight to see but we where startled. They climbed up the tree and we could hear them fighting. Just be aware at all times and enjoy the beauty of this trail.

Campion Trail

First visit

I heard about this trail and went to ride this week. Very nice trail, the designers added unique features to personalize the trail with tree trunk carvings, very nice landscapes, pretty cool bridges, fences were nice, and just a great experience. Trail markers and maps are very helpful. Kudos to the city of Irving for the investment and maintenance, we will return regularly.

6/23/18- Headed toward NRH, the trail was shutdown at mile 9 for construction. Nicely kept, clean trails. Moderate incline from grapevine to NRH, but mostly flat terrain. We enjoyed the ride despite killer winds there and back.

White Rock Lake Park Loop Trail

One of Best Trails in Dallas

June, 2018 by rcorson

I have been riding this trail for the past 4 years and always love this trail. It has a great deal of variety and is very scenic. You can ride around the lake or head downtown! Gets a little busy during the summer on the weekend mornings, but never too bad.

Cottonwood Trail

Too risky

April, 2018 by mb404

I wish I had found the reviews here before deciding to ride my bike on the Cottonwood Trail two days ago, because it was a bizarre experience. I got on the path from the White Rock Creek Trail and it started out fine, but not for long. I found myself riding past sketchy characters and some homeless men right off to the side of the path. I did not see another person walking nor biking the entire time and once the path led to the freeway where it takes a sharp right, it continued to look worse...no one else around, trash, and graffiti everywhere. It didn't feel right to me, so I decided to turn around and head back. Then it became really bizarre. I was pedalling quite fast because I wanted to quickly get beyond the rough area that the path runs through and as I approached riding under an overpass I came upon two police officers with their guns drawn. I slowed down and looked around and saw that there were several officers all around with guns drawn or ready, including the overpass. One of the them yelled down to me to get out of there quickly. So, I ended up on my bike in a rough part of town with no way to get home. I was lost and thankfully had my phone on me and was able to reach someone to come pick me up. (I later found the sad reason for all those police officers being on/around the path.) Needless to say, I will NEVER ride that path again because it is too risky.

Mesquite Heritage Trail

We had a great time.

The path is smooth with great gentle inclines/descents. Beautiful scenery along the way even though it’s in town. There’s a couple of busy crossings, but it’s doable.

I love this trail! Its just the right length for me and I can see from one side to the other. The people I meet are friendly. Many have been walking this trail for years, I always feel safe on this trail.

Cottonwood Trail

didn’t feel safe

Used to riding the White Rock Creek Trail and wanted to try this trail. Unfortunately didn’t feel safe for a woman riding alone. Disappointing.

White Rock Lake Park Loop Trail

This is a great family park

February, 2018 by sssggg

Well worth going to. Take the entire family here. You can bike, walk, lay on the grass under the trees. They have it all. Maybe the east side can be a little rough in small spots but it has many great areas to sit have a picnic etc. They also have paddle boats and sail boats to rent in the summer time. Must see!

Cotton Belt Trail

Gaylord TX and Great Wolf access

February, 2018 by relambjr

I only ran a brief 1.5 miles on this Trail from the Ball Street (northern) end point, but I did want to mention that there is a relatively new (2-3 year old) sidewalk from up Route 26 going past Gaylord Resort, Great Wolf Lodge and the Embassy Suite/Bass Pro that makes this trail very accessible and great for a long run or ride from any of those properties. The sidewalk is very wide and goes along 114 into downtown Grapevine (Main Street is very cool), and then along Ira E Wood Ave along a commercial strip and then transitions into the Cotton Belt trail.
At the Ball Street entrance there are several businesses where you can probably park and access the trail with little difficulty (chiropractor office, etc).
I didn't have a chance to go too far on the actual Cotton Belt so I can't vouch for the scenery. I stopped when I was about to run under an interstate.
Enjoy!

Katy Trail (Dallas)

Great Path

January, 2018 by andrewbrown24

Connects the Park Cities to downtown. Use it to commute to work in the city. For out of towners, leisurely ride with many places to stop for food / drinks. Is usually very crowded after work so slow down and enjoy he ride.
