Great Trail

October, 2017 by jl_minter

This is a great trail that connects 5 city parks near downtown Hendersonville. It's 10 feet wide so easily accommodates walkers and bikers. Pretty scenery, butterfly gardens, a few water fountains, and 3 bike fixing stations dot the path. You can extend your walk by walking the trails at several of the parks along the way.

Doodle Rail Trail

Great afternoon Ride

September, 2017 by brentadcox

This trail is up and down almost the whole way. There a short breaks both ways but you will need some gears to deal with the long hills. Such a pretty ride and it was not crowded at all. This is a beautiful bike ride. Can't wait till the leaves turn.

Doodle Rail Trail

Nice wide pavement, but several minor hills

September, 2017 by lexingtonflyer

This is a lovely, wide rail trail. It's new enough that there aren't any rough spots in the pavement. There are few road crossings of much significance. There are more hills than typical, but fewer than you'd find on nearby roads. Frequent distance markings add to safety and help pace the rider. A mid-point rest stop was added by local Rotarians. The ride is a more rural experience than the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail, with less traffic, and more trees. I've ridden trails from Maine to Georgia and this is a good one.

Nantahala Bikeway

Nantahala Bikeway AKA Laurie's Trail

September, 2017 by granola8

This is a short but sweet trail. If your are biking you can continue your ride up Wayah Rd. to the cascades of the upper Nantahala and even further on the Old River Rd. This trail does not start at the Nantahala Outdoor Center as advertised. It starts at Winding Stairs Rd. and ends at the commercial raft put in. This is about six miles west of NOC and just off highway 19/74. During rafting season (March thru October) start at Winding Stairs Rd. parking area just off 19/74, cross 2 bridges and follow the trail along the river. This is part of the Bartram Trail System.

Awesome Family Trip!

September, 2017 by knichols

We rode this trail early morning and their were a few people on it, but not many. We parked at the Sports Complex and went left out of the parking lot to start. Once we got to Lowes, we crossed the street. This side is gravel but follows a river. This was great riding! Kids really enjoyed it. We then rode through the Davidson River Campground and through the loops and then back past the Sports Complex and all the way to a church where the trail crossed the road again. We were running short on time and quit there. We will definitely be back to ride again!

Loved it!

July, 2017 by ani.blair

This quaint ride through the forest is feet away from the Nantaha- yes the same one with rafters screaming down the rapids. Two bridges on one side where the kayaks and rafts pass under starts the trail from the Winding Stair side. I had only two complaints: there was no signage letting you know which place was correct, and if you have a road bike, beware of about 8- places where the roots have grown up into the pavement. Other than that, it was terrific- worth the drive over.

Brevard Bike Path

Made the trip while vacationing nearby to ride the Brevard Bike Path. Was disappointed that only 3 miles were asphalt. Also found the path along some of the roadways were littered with gravel. I had to check with a local bike shop to find where to park to start the ride. Still a nice ride.

Doodle Rail Trail

June, 2017 by insky132

While vacationing in nearby North Carolina, I looked up nearby railtrails and found the Doodle trail about an hour away. We were well please with great trail with great asphalt, a lot of split rail fences, benches, air pump station about midway along the trail, and a port-a-john @ the beginning. Once outside the city limits, the trail became rolling thru fields and forest. I believe the trail has been extended about a half a mile through the cemetery in Easley. Nice ride!

Good trail but don't travel for it!

June, 2017 by marybeth3

I love this trail, I ride it almost weekly, but I also live less than a mile from it and would not travel long distances to experience it. Goes through a crowded park, there is a velodrome & river access tho and that's cool.
