Would have been a five star but the start at the Community Center was not well marked. The end of the Trail in Smithfield was next to the main drag where I found a nice deli. Will be back I love Smithfield!

Walnut Creek Trail

Nice ride

September, 2017 by jasperpjm

We biked from Worthdale park east to the Neuse river trail. Beautiful well maintained and a little hilly. This section is 5 stars. We then went 4 miles or so west ,after struggling to find the street connection , and it was a little more dated , not quite as wide, and in need of some cleaning but pretty nice. We rated this section a 3+. Well worth a visit.

Neuse River Trail

September Bike Trip 2-17

September, 2017 by jasperpjm

Our group of 5 old guys spent 4 nights in a rental home in Wake Forest. We had a direct trail connection to the Neuse River Trail(NRT). it was our second trip to the area and once again the biking did not disappoint. This is one of the best rails we have ever ridden. Extremely well maintained, scenic and fairly level with some short climbs and descents.

Shaded Ride Along the River - North Half

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Buffaloe Rd Park and headed north to US1. Then turned around and went south almost to I-495/Crabtree Trail. 28miles roundtrip. Trail was in good condition, and shaded most of the way. It runs along the river with lots of good scenery. Water and restrooms at Buffaloe Rd park. Tip: this is not a rail-trail, so there are lots of ups and downs, bridges and turns. Will return another day to do the southern half, Crabtree and Walnut trails. Raleigh is fortunate to have such a nice trail system.

I ride this trail pretty often. It's a awesome trail to ride. If you haven't checked it out you need to. It has some gourgous views of the Roanoke River and the trail is a good workout.

Crabtree Creek Trail

good running trail

March, 2017 by ivy_rea

We started on the end/beginning of trail on pocardy drive. Once we hit a little over 4 miles, we hit a nice neighborhood on alleghany that was a bit hilly so we turned around. The trail was clean and wide enough for all 5 for us to be side by side. It was pretty flat until we hit that neighborhood.

Clayton River Walk

A beautiful trail connecting with more

August, 2016 by carlstevens

We accessed the Clayton River Walk from the Sam's Branch Greenway as we continued on to the Neuse River Trail. This well maintained greenway just continued on and on! We made good use of some of the many trailside benches for our breaks. The little bridges that crossed over the many small streams were great.
Being as it was a Sunday there were not many other trail users, but the ones we did encounter were pleasant and polite.

Sam's Branch Greenway

Very nice trail to start our trip .............

August, 2016 by carlstevens

We actually started at the local Comfort Inn only 3 miles away and rode to the North O'Neill Street trailhead. I don't recommend this though, the traffic is fast and there is no edge to ride on. Better to just drive to the trailhead and park there. The trailhead parking area is a pretty good sized, stone and dirt covered with plenty of shade. The handicap Port O Potty was most welcome, and fairly clean.
The trail, although short, was very nicely paved and clean. There was a nice display of painted fishes on the small bridge that was well worth stopping to view.
The Sam's Branch Greenway links to the Clayton Walking Trail, which continues on to several more very nice trails.
The trails in this are were all a pleasure to ride.

Crabtree Creek Trail

House Creek Trail

July, 2016 by ariel23

Enjoyed riding this trail and the multiple surrounding trails it connects to, incl Crabtree Creek, Reedy Creek, Mine Creek, etc. Varied course, w/a variety of hills, a few tunnels, and is generally well designed and maintained. The option of stopping off near Meredith College for food/snacks is a big plus, as well as being able to readily connect to Rocky Branch and Centennial trails get to NC State and downtown is very cool. This and the whole network of trails in and around town are the things I miss most about living in Raleigh.
