Black Creek Greenway

Detours and upgrades

January, 2023 by jchris850

Town of Cary is relocating this greenway north of Dynasty Drive to eliminate a streetside stretch. When I walked it in December, there was a longer streetside detour following Dynasty in the opposite direction, then returning via Cary Parkway to the trailhead on that street. There is also ongoing sewer reconstruction that may require streetside detours between Dynasty and Lake Crabtree.

Flat and easy ride with only a couple road crossings. A go to trail when I just want to petal.

Princeville Heritage Trail

I should have paid attention to the word “grassy.” My bad.

October, 2022 by hswalker39

The trail is entirely grass, and I found it rough even with my fat tires. I definitely don’t have the soul of a mountain biker, so someone more adventurous (and younger) might be fine. The area itself has a lot of history, unfortunately, the Museum/Visitor Center was closed and appeared to be undergoing renovations. Not sorry we went. Just would have wished for a better trail. The trail signs were so faded as to be unreadable, which gives a feeling of neglect. ¿

Black Creek Greenway

mixed experience

September, 2022 by shilla7461

Drove from north Raleigh to bike this trail and was somewhat disappointed. Sure there were nice parts… the lake view, shaded ride through the wooded areas along the creek/river. However, as another person stated, the trail was not well marked in some areas, you cross several busy roads and the detour was confusing and basically a ride through a neighborhood.

Neuse River Trail

love the trail.

Paved and shaded trail. Perfect for my training runs. Only thing is I have to drive 45 minutes to get here and by the time I get here I have to use the restroom. No port-a-potty in sight.

Neuse River Trail

Great Trail for those Hot Days

July, 2022 by sandymo

If you have to ride at 100°, might as well be this trail. It’s pretty shady so if you’re cruising along it’s pretty nice. It’s probably not a beach cruiser trail as there are some inclines, not much to speak of, but probably more than you’d want on a single speed bike. Anyway, we left from Anderson Point Park and did 35 miles round trip to what I think is the northern end and back. The paved trail is in nice shape. Keep an eye out on the blind curves as we saw a couple of cyclists cut the corners a bit tight.

Trail still closed about a mile down but nice and shady. Bathrooms at playground at Community Center entrance.

Crabtree Creek Trail

Needs to be Completed

July, 2022 by thommock1

I’ve Ridden this several times but have to stop and turn around when I reach a section that is not complete along Crabtree Creek. I think once this is totally completed it could be a nice ride. Not sure when that will happen

Walnut Creek Trail

Great Trail but….

July, 2022 by stravers222

Great trail but LACKS any kind of signage! And I mean NONE for 6 miles beyond the trailhead near Lake Dam Road at Lake Johnson Park. Thanks to the TrailLink app It was easy to navigate but inconvenient having to stop at each intersection to determine the correct turn.
