Tomorrow River State Trail

November beauty

November, 2016 by greeny

We started in Scandinavia and headed East to Ogdensburg.
Returned to Scandinavia for a picnic by the river before
venturing West for a few miles, then back to the initial spot. Trail was in perfect condition and the scenery
beautiful. November 5th and the temperature was 69 degrees F. We will return, for sure, to explore the remainder of this most inviting trail.

Wiouwash State Trail

beautiful ride

October, 2016 by lisa202000

We rode from Medina to Hortonville and back on this trail at the end of October. (4 miles each way) This was an absolutely beautiful trip with trees draping over the trail most of the way. It also included some beautiful marsh land and some bird filled meadows. There was a port -potty, some sitting areas and a picnic table for lunching in this short stint of the trail. I can't wait to ride this trail again in the summer time.

Devil's River State Trail

Very nice, but is a long for ride for kids (under 10) so bring snacks/plenty of water.

September, 2016 by trueramsfan

Started in Denmark, very nice parking and restroom facilities. Drinking fountain available. The trail is well kept, crushed stone and is shady in the afternoon or early morning. Midday would be very sunny. The trail is long for a group of children. Nice park about 12.5 miles south on trail. All intersections with roads are well marked.

Peaceful Farm, Field and Forest Trail

July, 2016 by jane.dumke

After reading the last couple reviews we were a little bit leery about this Trail but we found it to be pleasant, deserted, through beautiful fields and trees. We rode from Amherst Junction just past Scandinavia. The first 1.5 miles was on county highways, but was well marked, and not a lot of traffic on Sunday afternoon. If you like the beautiful farm fields around central Wisconsin framed by rolling hills of green forest, this is a great trail. Never saw another biker, and the tracks indicated there had been only one other set of bikers all day. We found it well maintained. It was after a wet night so the trail was soft, which made it seem somewhat up hill both ways! We worked coming back from Scandinavia! Glad the sun wasn't out most of the day as there is little shade, and no place outside of businesses in Scandinavia itself to get more water. We did enjoy cooling our feet in the River, though!

Mountain-Bay State Trail

Poor Condition

July, 2016 by deverson_tl

I rode from Shawano to several miles past Bonduel. When you cross HWY 22 about 4.5 miles out of Shawano, you reach a section of the trail where many trees have been cut down on both sides of the trail. The trail is littered with branches and sticks and is not fun to ride. In the middle of this section is a mud hole if it has rained recently. I don't know why they cut down the trees, but they could of cleaned the trail off when they were done. From HWY 22 out past Bonduel there is very little limestone left on the trail. It is basically two ruts to ride on. Sections are wet and slippery. Shawano county should be ashamed of the way they have kept up this trail. People should not have to purchase a trail pass for the Shawano County section because it is so poorly maintained. I will say that several of the bridges have been repaired and have had the loose boards and protruding nails fixed.

Tomorrow River State Trail

Not one I would recommend

June, 2016 by laljj

My wife and I like to try new bike trails and take in different scenery along the way. This trail was a big disappointment for us. We drove to Amherst Junction (not Amherst the next town). There we unloaded our bikes and soon realized that the trail was not connected through Amherst Junction. We did not want to ride on the county roads to find the trail that headed east, so we drove to Amherst and found the trail and parking at Cate Park. We headed east towards Scandanavia. The trail was decent, but no real scenery other than woods and farmland....boring compared to other trails we ride. Once we crossed into Waupaca county (there is a sign telling us of the county line), the trail deteriorated. There were weeds growing unmoved along the edges and in the middle of the trail. We had to weave around them to avoid them. At one point, I looked at a distance and could not tell if the trail was there or totally overgrown in weeds. The weeds were 18 to 24 inches tall and slapped our legs as we drove around them. After 10 miles, we turned around. It is like waupaca county forgot this trail exists. We saw one other biker on this trail on a Wednesday. Don't waste your time here.

The trail I will recommend in the Stevens Point area is the Green Circle Trail. It is 24 miles of ever changing scenery around Stevens Point. This one is well worth taking.

Tomorrow River State Trail

Sunny, Country Trail, Badly Maintained

June, 2016 by pameladebutler

This is a mainly open, flat, country trail. Scenery is mainly trees and forest with some deer grazing. Lots of brush, high grass and weeds and some sandy areas make it less than ideal for cycling. Very little shade makes it a nice trail for the fall, if the ground is dry.

Ahnapee State Park Trail

Algoma to Casco

May, 2016 by emmettbrown

We've been working sections of the Ahnapee the past couple of summers. The weekend before Memorial day we did most of the section from Algoma to Casco. This is a great time to ride the Ahnapee, almost no one was on it.

The parking lot in Algoma is next to an industrial area and seems out of character considering most of the trail is through rural areas. By the way, Algoma is a neat little town worth spending some time in. I appreciate ozzythegr8's insights on this section of the trail. Much rougher than the Door County portions. If we didn't have mountain bikes some parts of the trail would have been really hard. I think the highlight was the Rio Creek Airport. Just a grass strip really, but we got see a guy testing out some home built looking plane up and down the run way.

One disappointing thing was the amount of horse droppings. Riders are supposed to clean up after their horses but evidently that's not always the case. So keep your eyes on the trail!

Ahnapee State Park Trail

Great trail - Good scenery - Nice bikepacking route

May, 2016 by hinze.jim

We rode from Luxemburg to Fish Creek on a bike packing trip. The Ahnapee was a great way to get from Luxemburg to Sturgeon Bay.

We rode mountain bikes (2.25" tires) fully loaded with camping gear and a trailer with no problem. I'd recommend a CX tire or better...not a roadie trail, but still a very nice gravel surface.

The trail provides quite a bit of shade early or late in the day. If your planning a stop along the route you'll need to make it in Kewaunee, Algoma, or Sturgeon Bay...not much else in between.

There were a FEW short stretches where there was some damage from horses as well as a few stretches with softer gravel, but all in all it was a great trail. The entire thing was pretty flat and fast.

different lags of trail in Kewaunee county

April, 2016 by ozzythegr8

I live in the area. These trails are used by a wide range of people. If you plan on biking it have correct gear this is not a road it is a trail. Great of biking with mountain bike not road bikes. You will meet horses and hikers on the trails. I have Schwinn mountain bike and I'm able to pull my 4yo daughter in a trailer no problem.
