First time on this trail and it was a nice ride. My husband and I rode the whole trail starting from the south end to Denmark and back. There were a couple parks along the way as well as a bench here and there. Trees, rolling fields and a few bridges were the highlights of the scenery but the thing I enjoyed the most was how quiet it was. Even the roads we had to cross were quiet. The trail is very well kept and very well marked (quarter mile markers too).
05/10/2026 I parked in Medina road the Wiowash trail turned west on Friendship trail only road about .5 mile loose pea gravel and washed out I turned around went back to the Wiowash trail. I tried going east a couple weeks ago that is just as bad.
Due to recent storms (ice and heavy rains) the trail is blocked. Biking would is impossible. The first 3 miles of trail from Scandinavia toward Amherst Jct. had at least 20 large trees down across the trail. The locals said the trail from Scandinavia toward Manawa was in a similar condition. The trail winds through beautiful woodland. Hopefully some groups with chain saws and ATV’s can help with cleanup and clearing the trail.
This is an amazing biking and walking trail for all skill levels. I love walking this trail with my family and friends. My grandkids are all age ranges and even the littlest enjoys these walks. The flora and fauna are beautiful in all seasons and the gorgeous Wolf River runs next to it. I recently had a hip replacement and the trail is so well maintained I have no fear of hitting a snag and taking a tumble. The solitude of the forest, the bird songs and river sounds make this a treasure. I highly recommend all walkers and bikers to explore this treasure.
Our walking club walks this trail frequently due to the scenery and easy walking to bridges that overlook Nine Mile Creek and the Wolf River. We have all ability levels ages 26 to 76. We’ve seen turtles, eagles, wild flowers and we can eat blackberries along the way. We love this trail and hope to keep it non motorized. It is a gem.
I rode a recumbent trike from Howard to Pulaski. The trail was in good condition and a fairly smooth ride.
We parked by the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and rode bike path on Packerlamd until the end. We then double backed to do the loop and circled back to our car. Strava said 9.27 miles but we did go off path a little to check out industrial park.
The trail is mostly beautiful. Almost all crushed gravel, which we didn’t expect. In some parts the gravel is thick and loose. The only asphalt is on county roads. the concrete, as expected, was on sidewalks in town. The boardwalks were fun but be careful if you are riding on 3 wheels. If I hadn’t just rode the Heart of Vilas and the Root River State Trails, which are as close to perfect as you can get in this region, I would’ve given the Green Circle a 5 star review.
Very nice and well maintained. I really enjoy this trail.
Part of the trail has been resurfaced and all of the trail was in great shape. A beautiful ride along the Fox river.
Trail from Wittenberg to Birnamwood is grass covered crushed limestone. They do cut the grass, but not particularly bike friendly.
