American Tobacco Trail

American Tobacco Trail

Make sure your car is parked in a safe spot. Find out where the “camps are first”. Traffic crosses need your attention. The Neuse River trail is safer with many parking spots. Parking spots. Near the dam are safer with a Bike shop if you need it.

Wonderful trail with a variety of different types of scenery. Lots of sub trails to explore. Nice parking area and bathroom facilities at Bond Park entry.

White Oak Creek Greenway

ATT to Bond Lake and back

August, 2026 by dmvirshup

We regularly cycle American Tobacco Trail and then take White Oak to Bond Lake for lunch as part of an out a back. It's a nice surface, with modest foot and cycle traffic. Well maintained trail and boardwalks. Through woods and neighborhood back yards along small streams. Bond Lake has facilities, picnic tables, water fountains.

This is a nice short trail that runs through the town of Louisburg, however, it needs repairs to the asphalt to minimize long term degradation

Neuse River Greenway Trail

Riding the Neuse River Greenway Trail

May, 2026 by arthurrs

My wife and I are from Georgia and were looking forward to riding this trail. We didn't complete the entire trail, but we rode about 10 miles of it. It was a wonderfully nice, peaceful ride along a well-kept, clean trail. We took the connector to the Mingo Creek trail, then returned to finish at the Neuse River. We will definitely be back to ride the entire trail soon.

The greenway now extends to the southwest and ends at the Apex Nature Park. Overall length from Jaycee Park to Apex Nature Park is about 5 miles. Great nature ride. Well designed

Neuse River Greenway Trail

superb

March, 2026 by pjcobra

Only rode 15 miles from Auburn-Knightdale to Milburne Dam and back but this is one of the very best trails for casual bicyclists. Paved. Wide. Scenic. Mostly shaded. Daily level with occasional hills that are a bit challenging for old and out-of-shapers but not too bad. Did not see a single electric terror bike--very unusual these days. Very friendly users (95% respond to greetings). Not many terrorizing "serious" riders. Great ride. Lots of bridges. Perfectly maintained.
