MCT Schoolhouse Trail

July, 2019 by annemkyle

This is a wonderful trail and connects seamlessly with the other MCT Trails. We really enjoyed a cafe called "Taste of Country". Watch for the bright yellow bike with signs. The cafe is in a former vegetable stand at 4200 Hanfelder Rd, Granite City 62040. Worth a stop!

Several accessible parking lots

June, 2019 by browneyedgurl1

The trail is a nice combination of city & country terrain. The Amelung section near SWIC needs some TLC. The asphalt is buckled in multiple places which can make it difficult for some to navigate without an accident. The excess brush & vegetation along most of the trail has been very well maintained. Most of the wooden bridges are splintering and I met one rider that caught a flat from a piece of wood. Stay aware of pedestrians at the Belleville Station crossing. Consider adding the Orchard Loop to this ride for an extra challenge!

St. Vincent Greenway Trail

Not Good for Skating

June, 2019 by alextaylor8356

I would not rollerblade or skateboard on this trail. There are hills that lead into turns that force you to brake down the hill. Not great for advanced skaters without brakes on their skates. Beginner skaters SHOULD NOT use this trail. Would recommend for those looking to add hills in their long distances runs or cycling.

MCT Ronald J. Foster Heritage Trail

Countryside Cycling

June, 2019 by browneyedgurl1

A mostly shaded trail that opens to flat farmland. Enjoyed the comfortable serene setting. Not as crowded as the other trails can get, which I liked. A good option for those who are new to longer distance rides. The park at the Eastern end in Marine has a covered pavilion and immaculate restrooms. Convenient parking lots at both ends make for simple access.

Great Find for a Visitor

Really well maintained, great trail with plenty of places to park!

Sam Vadalabene Great River Road Bike Trail

Bad

April, 2019 by 301tfish

Rough, unmaintained surface. Cracks with weeds growing. Flood debris, sticks. Close to highway. Beautiful scenery, but has been abandoned by states/counties. Go to Edwardsville for nice maintained trails.

St. Louis Riverfront Trail

Great training spot

April, 2019 by penelope.gingivitis

I love this trail for two primary reasons:
- there's hardly anyone ever on it
- it has very long contiguous sections that are great for training on my bike.

Grant's Trail

Great trail for biking.

March, 2019 by dsburrows88

An added bonus is the trail passes by the Clydesdale stables at Grant's Farm, and I have seen the young foals come up to the fence on a couple of my rides. This is one of those bike trails that's close to everything but sometimes makes you feel like you're getting away from it all.

Katy Trail State Park

Thanks

An absolute must for any biker hiker or wanderer to take in. The canopy of trees and trail way tunnel near roachport Missouri is awesome.

MCT Confluence Trail

Rough Trail

November, 2018 by ron4cubs

I recently completed the Katy trail and used the MCT Confluence Trail to go from Alton, IL to St Louis (via the McKinley bridge). This trail is not paved but very bad for several miles with large rocks that I thought would puncture my tires. I was riding a loaded touring bike but I needed a mountain bike for this terrain. Please either repair the trail or note on website that this is NOT (entirely) Paved.

I had the pleasure to ride this beautiful trail starting in Rocheport, MO riding West one day to Booneville and East another day to McBaine while staying in Columbia for the solar ecilpse last year. Also rode about 8 miles from Mokane heading east...this trail is very scenic and user friendly. I can't speak for the other 200 miles but what I saw was worth the time and minimal effort...even in 90 degree weather!

Busch Greenway

nice trail

September, 2018 by amber239946

My family and I (husband and 3 kids; a 7 year old, a 4 year old, and a one year old who was on a seat attached to my husbands bike) rode a portion of this trail. We started at the access by the pond and rode to the end (about 2 miles). Along the way we saw an abundance of beautiful flowers and scenery. The trail is well marked, and has many options to go off and connect to other trails for a longer ride. The kids loved going through the tunnels. Though the paved trail was not completely flat, it was still a fairly easy ride. I recommend this trail for anyone who has kids with them or is looking for a nice and easy ride.
