BWI Trail

Challenging and fun

February, 2018 by beckyaboardsvanteris

We loved riding this trail from Glen Burnie to Annapolis. Go all the way into town and enjoy a nice lunch at one of the many nice restaurants on the waterfront. The trail is well marked and safe.

Mount Vernon Trail

Beautiful

Ran trail in October on a wonderful fall day.Started at park at north end of airport runway and headed north.Views of DC were fantastic.Trail crowded as usual.Lived in DC in 1970s and ran this trail often.Enjoyed my recent run after not running trail for about 15 years.

WB&A Trail

Nice Trail

January, 2018 by streak1

Began the run at GORC park.Connected with trail after about half a mile and headed south toward Conway Road.Nice trail, uncrowded, and well maintained. There are some uphills, etc.Used to live in Gambrills in 1970s and this trail didn't exist.Amazing how a once rural area has now become densely populated.

Not Long Enough

I love this trail, only problem is, it's not long enough.

Michael Castle Trail

A wonderful trail for both beginners and seasoned riders

November, 2017 by robert.richter89

I rode the entire Micheal Castle trail starting in Delaware City as well as the 1.8 Mile Section of the Ben Cardin Trail to Chesapeake City. The entire trail is paved with only a few bumps that are marked. There are a few hills with two switchbacks and sections of the trail are curvy. To me that all added up to a fun ride. There are three trail heads each with parking and bathrooms. Both Delaware City and Chesapeake City offered places to eat. There is also a bar roughly halfway on the trail at a marina. All of this adds up to a perfect trail in my opinion!

Northwest Branch Trail

Biker Beware

October, 2017 by dennis loufik

I rode this on a sunny day in October. The trail is pretty well maintained, but some tree roots in a few areas. It was kind of eerie that I had to ride through wooded areas and never saw another biker. Didn't feel safe riding the trail alone.

Enola Low Grade Trail

Still a bumpy ride in Martic and Conestoga Township sections

October, 2017 by jhtl

I had ridden this trail in the spring, from the Fairview Road parking area to the blocked-off bridge at Safe Harbor. The Providence Township section is smooth fine gravel. The Martic Township and Conestoga Township sections are more rough. The News and Events section of the Enola Low Grade Trail website (http://www.enolalowgradetrail.com/) indicated that Martic and Conestoga Townships planned to place a new surface on their respective trail portions in late spring, early summer of this year.  I rode the trail again October 6, and found that this work had not been done yet, so it was still a bumpy ride. I drove to the Manor Township extension of the trail and rode it - very nice.

Henson Creek Trail

A Great Trail

October, 2017 by rsaj111

I really like this trail. It runs along the Henson Creek, and you can see the creek as you ride (though, not so much between Oxon Hill Rd and Indian Head Hwy).
The "first half" of the trail (between Temple Hills and Tucker) is the best portion. It is used more than the "second half." There is a spot in the "first-half" that is unpaved; this section has a tall metal fence that protects people from falling into the creek because of erosion.
The "second-half" (between Tucker Rd and Oxon Hill Rd) has more tree cover and a lot of leaves on the trail at certain spots. After you pass the neighborhood park (Tor Bryan Estates) heading west, the trail runs directly behind some suburban houses.
The "first-half" is the safer section to use. I rode this entire trail from end to end about 3 weeks ago. I ran into 5-7 people on the "first half ," in contrast to the "0" amount of people I passed on the "second half."
Overall, a nice trail with natural scenery; you might see a snake swimming in the creek or a heron.

Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail

Wonderful ride

October, 2017 by jtkilcoin

Began this ride north of the trail at Railroad PA along the Heritage Trail that joins the Torrey (also named NCR). The day was brisk, sunny and dry. Trail conditions for a rail-trail were very good. The majority of the trail is tree-lined and shaded. At times the trail was 'two-track' but mostly sufficiently wide to ride two-abreast if traffic permitted. My ride was on a weekday, so traffic was light. The trail offers a lot of rail history if one is so inclined to enjoy in addition to the outdoors.
